Squirrel in the forest

Sorry but another LOTV art sheet for today's card and another new paper pad, Winter Woods. The trees were cut from one of the sheets from the pad. I dug out a very old Tim Holtz Sizzix on the edge snowflurries die for the snowflake border.

How are your Christmas cards coming along. I am doing better than usual but still have lots to make. Good job I love making them and these new art sheets do help make quicker cards.

Simply Robins

Yes another LOTV art sheet teamed with the new Winter Pastel papers. I kept this one fairly simple, adding some clouds using a MFT mini cloud stencil and chalk and then some pearl dots for snow. I used an old Memory Box ivy die  and that's it, no more embellishing needed.

Looking forward to a trip out for a meal this afternoon and then going to the theatre to see Cirkopolis at 5pm which is a Cirque de Soleil type show. Should be home in time to catch he Cry which we are really enjoying but it does mean recording Dr Who. Loved the first episode with Jodie.

I thought my snowmen might like some snowwomen so I made some. I love making these are they are so easy using circle dies for the head and body, and they are a great way of using those brads we all collected years ago. Mind you I did have to buy some for eyes and noses. I think the red one is showing off with that big bow don't you 😊.

I would like to enter these into the anything but a card challenge at Simon Says.

This way for pudding

Another cute art sheet from LOTV, this one is from the Christmas Mice sheet.  I teamed it with the new vintage Christmas papers, some ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, a LOTV sentiment stamp, Woodware punched holly leaves and a poinsettia from Hobbycraft.
I used one of my favourite MFT wonky stitched rectangle dies on the image and my favourite distress ink, vintage photo.

Cover Girl

Please see this morning's post for my snowman card which I am delighted to see is on the front cover of the new magazine.

I can't see

I made this card for the latest Crafts Beautiful magazine using a new Pink Gem digi and MFT papers. He has been coloured with Copics and I used chalk and a MFT mini cloud stencil for the sky. The sentiment is a Card-io stamp. The dies I used are The Works stitched square, MFT pierced rectangle, Frantic Stamper tall pine trees and Joy ice crystal 2 6002/2020.

Apparently I am an expert!!!!!

So why the title of this post? Well a few weeks ago I received an email from the editor of Make It Today magazine asking if I would make a card for a Christmas feature from experts. Now I do not consider myself an expert at all but I was very flattered to be asked and here is the card I made. The image is from Pink Gem coloured with Copics. The papers are Bo Bunny Altitude and the ribbons are from Crafty Ribbons. I added some scrim from B&Q and diecut a snowflake banner using a die from The Works.

Back to the Christmas samples for LOTV today. The image is from the Christmas Pugs art sheet and the papers are scandi Christmas. I love using spots and stripes to create patterns and used a LOTV swirly greeting, a Fiskars tag punch and MFT banner dies.

I promised to let you know what I did for my Birthday. Well on Saturday we travelled to Doncaster and stayed at a Premier Inn which is next door to some outlets so we spent the afternoon shopping and then had a lovely meal. On Sunday we went to Harlow Carr Gardens and then checked into a hotel in Skipton. We had booked a superior room overlooking the canal. We were there for two nights and will be travelling home today, having spent yesterday in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Will try to catch up with you all as soon as I can.

Happy Birthday to Me

Yes, today is my Birthday and I shall be enjoying a lovely day out, more on that tomorrow. I thought the new Winter pastel papers from LOTV would be suitable for many occasions and decided to make a starburst card using the left over pieces. I do like 8x8 papers and when you mostly make 6x6 cards there are always some useful size pieces left. I cut each of the smallest waste pieces diagonally and fitted them around the blue paper. Once they were stuck down I trimmed off the excess, added a LOTV sentiment, double layered using more offcuts, added some pearl trim which was recycled from some Wedding flower arrangements and some large flowers.

If you are going to Stamp Magic at Doncaster and visit the LOTV stand you will find some of my recent cards displayed there.

Another new item

Meet Toby, our friends' adorable dog who made a lovely model for my latest sewing items, dog bandanas. These are very popular at the moment and when we were on holiday we went to a lovely craft market where two stalls were selling them. One of them tied round the neck and the other made them to slip over a collar. I have made mine to go onto a collar and I made them reversible.

These are the first 4 I made, even a Christmas one.

And this is the other side of them. I do enjoy handsewing and hope these will be popular on my stall. Nice Christmas presents too.

Yes another Christmas card using an LOTV art sheet, this time one from the North Pole sheet. The papers are LOTV Scandi Christmas and the sentiment is from the swirly Christmas stamp set. I used a MFT stitched border die and just wanted a little more embellishment. Looking through some odds and ends I found these self adhesive buttons which were the perfect finishing touch.

These little birds are singing well aren't they. This is from the new LOTV Christmas Mix art sheet teamed with the Vintage Winter papers. I added to the distressing with vintage photo DI. The sentiment is from the LOTV simple sentiment stamps. I added some stocking bunting using a Memory Box die.

Brrr she looks well wrapped up doesn't she. This is another of the new LOTV art sheets. I have all 16 and am trying to use one from each sheet to show how lovely and varied they are. This one is from Cosy Christmas. I have used papers from LOTV Frozen Snowflakes and Winter Pastels. I used a MFT scalloped stitched border die and then wondered how to embellish it. I looked through my Christmas die folder and found these cute dies which I used with sanded Core'dinations. The mittens are a Joy die and the others Cottage Cutz.

Snowy penguin

I couldn't resist buying a couple more Lee Holland digis when they were on offer recently. Unlike some digis which I buy and forget to use I printed them off straight away and coloured both of them whilst on holiday. I don't think I will take my Copics away again though as I don't get too much time for colouring on holiday and it is a big case so I will stick to taking some sewing. I do miss crafting if I don't have any to do.

I coloured the sky on Monday as I wanted to try doing a snowy sky and it isn't too bad for a first attempt.  The papers are old 'Twas the Night Nitwits for LOTV. I haven't used twine much lately and I do love it. I had to separate a piece to get a strand through the bells as the holes in them are very small.

Today I have used one of the 4 images from the new LOTV reindeer art sheet along with papers from the new scandi Christmas paper pad. I am working away trying to use as many as I can of the gorgeous new Christmas art sheets from LOTV. This one is from the North Pole sheet. At just £1 a sheet for 4 images they are a bargain and they are great quality too. I used one of the new paper pads, Frozen Snowflakes, added some blue mesh, snowflake ribbon and some wooden embellishments, coloured and sparkled.

Off for my monthly facial and back massage this afternoon, lovely.

I was asked to make a card using this lovely LOTV image for a Wedding which you can see was yesterday. This is a digi simply print and today is the last day you will be able to buy it along with all the LOTV digis. I used an old LOTV paper pad as the card is 8x8. The pretty rose ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and the flowers are from I am Roses and Wild Orchid. I coloured and sparkled a wooden heart too.

A child is born

Tiring day yesterdsy, up at 5.15 and setting up at the hospital from 7.15. Had a really good day with lots of sales, many of them Christmas. In bed at 10, good sleep and ready for what today holds, starting with some housework, boo. I have used another of the new Christmas art sheets launched this week at LOTV. This one is from girlie Christmas. I used some of the digi paper, which is actually grey but looks lilac on here. The silver glitter mesh is from The Works. I diecut the hexagon shape for a change from a square card. The star was diecut from white glitter card using a Memory Box die and I added some flowers from Hobbycraft.

I made this simple card for some very good friends anniversary yesterday. They don't like fussy and as they have just been on a cruise and one of the places they visited was Venice I thought this image which came with Making Cards magazine was perfect. The paper is from the same mag and I just added a LOTV sentiment, some seam binding and a diecut sun using a MFT die.

Very early start today as we are at the hospital craft fair. Tonight we are going for a carvery with these friends wher we shall be telling them all about our holiday in Cornwall.

Carol Singing Bear

My new Christmas art sheets arrived from LOTV yesterday and I will be making some samples with them and the new papers once they arrive,  However I couldn't wait to get started so I used some digi papers from LOTV which will only be available until the end of the month so if you want any of their digi stamps, simply prints or papers you only have a few days left to buy them and they are on an incredible offer too.

This cutie is from the new carol singing sheet and I diecut him with a Lawn Fawn stitched circle die. I added some snowflake ribbon, a LOTV digi stamp and a snowflake banner  cut using a die from The Works.  I added some fun flock to his hat and used a Wink of Stella clear pen on the snow.

She loves fairies, pink, flowers and glitter and this card has all of those.  I used an image from an old LOTV art pad and diecut with a MFT wonky stitch oval die.  The papers are Anna Marie which I distressed. The lovely ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and I used some of their lace for the bow. The sentiments are LOTV, flowers from Wild Orchid. I found the pink leaves in my sash and they matched perfectly. Home from holiday

We have been away on holiday since 13th September. We stayed the first night in a Premier Inn at Weston super Mare and then Friday morning finished the journey to Cornwall. We stayed in a lovely cottage in a little village near Truro. On 21st we travelled as far as Watford and spent another night in a Premier Inn and will be driving the rest of the way home this morning. Breaking the journey up that way is so much better as it is a long way to go in one day. We should be home early afternoon and the first job will be a bit of unpacking, get the washing machine going and then shopping.

I took my Copic case and some images with me along with lots of sewing so I am hoping I am coming home with some coloured images ready to make into cards and some completed sewing projects.

If I haven't managed much commenting whilst I have been away I will catch up with you all as soon as I can.

I used the precoloured one to make my plaque.   I coloured some wooden snowflakes with a Zig wood craft pen and then used a clear Spectrum Noir sparkle brush pen. Seeing Stars

I love coming up with different designs for felt decorations and Pinterest is a great source of inspiration. I saw some felt stars on there and thought I could make some of those. I like to take the ideas I see and devise my own individual makes. I recently bought these cute snowmen buttons on Ebay and thought they were perfect to add to the stars. I used an Xcut die set. The red and blue ones have glittered felt and the green one has some Christmas holly material added to the plain felt.

Lili of the Valley

In case you haven't seen the news Lili of the Valley will not be selling digis after the end of the month. The EU regulations on selling digis have become much stricter and have made it very difficult to sell digis to other countries without calculating individual countries' taxes. So the good news is that they have some incredible offers on digis until the end of the month. The bad news is no more digis after that date. Of course this means no more Digistamp Boutique images which have only just moved to LOTV. So if you want any of those get them before the end of the month.

The other good news is that they will be going back to selling rubber stamps and printed paper pads. I love their papers and am very excited about them coming back. They will also be selling more of their precoloured art sheets which are great quality.

They hope to set up an Etsy shop to sell a smaller range of digis as Etsy will deal with the tax implications.

It is such a shame that bureaucracy spoils things for small businesses.

This is the last of my LOTV art sheet images from the furry friends sheet. I teamed it with a LOTV sentiment, MFT hearts and stripes papers and flowers from Wild Orchid. The stitched square die is from The Works. These are bigger than many of the more expensive die sets and cut beautifully.

Our new challenge at A Gem of a Challenge is one for the ladies. I used this fun precoloured digi with Lilybee Victoria Park papers. The sentiment is Little Claire. I added the ribbon and then couldn't decide how to decorate it. I don't often have a blank like that, usually the card comes together easily. However as soon as I decided on diecut flowers and used various paper scraps I was happy with the result. I used some Gerbera dies from Printable Heaven and inked the edges, added diecut leaves using a Britannia die and some pearls.

Love Heart

I recently bought this large freestanding heart from Craft Heaven and decided to go with a shabby chic look. It would make a lovely Wedding or Anniversary present. I made it Sunday and put it out for sale yesterday. It was the second item I sold and we then went on to sell lots more items including some Christmas ones. In fact I had my best sales since Dec 2016. A tiring day but worthwhile and we always meet some lovely people. A day at the hospital makes you realise how lucky you are.

The heart was painted with Rustoleum chalk paint. I coloured some cheesecloth with vintage photo distress ink, diecut a heart from patterned hessian and stamped the Inkylicious sentiment using brown ink on kraft. After assembling these I added ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, lace, flowers from Wild Orchid and I am Roses, small wooden hearts from Hobbycraft, a Prima butterfly and some burlap butterflies. Well it has been a few days since I posted a Christmas card but as DSB are launching some new Christmas images and sentiments on Monday at LOTV I have three to share with you over the next few days. I used one of the precoloured Word Art images. The papers are some of my faves Bo Bunny Altitude. I love the mix of aqua, teal and purple. I used an old MS snowflake border punch and my latest Christmas die. Isn't that a cute die at the top. It came from The Works and cuts beautifully. I added some bells to match the sentiment. Vintage new home card

We had a good day yesterday, the weather was gorgeous, the breakfast was yummy, went all round the garage sale, didn’t buy much but we walked 13000 steps. You may have seen the new home card I was asked to make which was on my blog last Friday. This is the card I made to send to the couple. As a complete contrast to the other card I went for a vintage style. The paper is Crafter's Companion vintage Wedding and I added some scrim from B&Q. The sentiment is Inkylicious. New home, new cat

Well An Officer and a Gentleman was absolutely fantastic yesterday, one of the best shows we have ever seen on stage, and we have seen a lot. It was full of 80’s power ballads and we came out with St Elmo’s Fire singng in our heads. Isn't this an idyllic Summer scene. My friend asked me to make a card for her daughter and family who moved house yesterday. They are going to get a cat so I was asked to include it on the card. Mind you when the 5 year old son was asked what colour cat he would like he said a blue one!  The image is one of the digi printables from LOTV, papers are Jen Hadfield everyday. I bought this from a friend who is having a craft room clearout. Of course I needed more papers!  The sentiment is from LOTV and I added some Hobby House flowers and a Bo Bunny border.  This image is also available as a printed art sheet from LOTV. Waiting for Santa

I can't keep up with all the cute new digis and toppers from Pink Gem but when I saw this one I just had to use it straight away.  This is one of the printables which come with extra layers for decoupaging.  I wanted to keep my card flat for posting so I just used the main image. I searched through my papers as I wanted the backing paper to match his hat and finally found this sheet in an old Crafter's Companion Scruffy Little Cat pad.  The sentiment comes with the image. I diecut a 5 part tree sing an Elizabeh Crafts die and added a layered snowflakes using MFT dies.  I don't know if the white glitter card I used for the tree and snowflake shows very well but it makes a lovely sparkly card.

More Hobby House

I seem to have a little phase on certain images and so today I have another Hobby House topper for you. These are always coloured so beautifully.  I have used First Edition Merry Little Christmas papers from last year.  I love these papers. So far this year I have only bought one small pack of Christmas papers from Hobbycraft. There don't seem to be many out yet and those that are out are not very inspiring. I shall continue using those I have and I love using non Christmas papers from Christmas cards too. The tree was cut from white glitter card using a Dee's die which comes n 5 sections (not to self, must use this one more often). I added a LOTV sentiment and a wooden snowflake coloured with a white Wink of Stella pen.  I would like to add this to the holidays challenge at Creative Inspirations and the cutest snowmen at Christmas with the cuties.

I had a good day yesterday, getting several cards and a couple of small plaques made but no scrapbook layout. I also spent some time on a jigsaw we started on Sunday and read my book. I do love a good thriller and am currently reading The Widow by Fiona Barton which is very good.
