Vintage lady

We went to Potters resort for Graham's Birthday yesterday. A couple of good friends came along too. I am scheduling this post on Saturday so can't say what activities we did but probably included a quiz and table tennis, a lovely meal with wine in the evening and then the entertainment, Jasper Carrott and Alistair McGowan. There will also have been music and no doubt we will have been on the floor dancing.  We stayed overnight in the hotel and will be doing some more activities this morning then stopping at Tesco before heading home this afternoon.

So onto my card teaming a lovely vintage lady from some Maja paper along with Bo Bunny papers, lace, cheesecloth, flowers from Hobbycraft, ribbon bow and butterflies from Poundland.

Happy 48th Wedding Anniversary

Today is our 48th Wedding Anniversary! I did get married very young 😊. Today is also my first official DT post on the Swedish House Crafts blog.  This is the card I made for hubby. I try to do something completely different each year and this year I was inspired by our love of denim, music and flowers.  The female image reminds me of one of my favourite 70's fashions when I wore a white petticoat with a broderie anglais trim showing underneath a skirt. Mind you mine were a lot longer than the ones in the image.

I wanted to show how you can used 6x6 papers on a larger card by creating a patchwork effect.  I used Maja Denim and girls 6x6 papers. There are several of these papers which suit male cards too. The images are from Maja snapshots guys in jeans and Maja Denim and girls - girls in jeans.  I also used a heart banner die, some wooden stars and lace.

Looking Good

After guest designing for Swedish House Crafts for two months I am delighted to say I am now on the permanent Design Team. For this one I used Maja Denim and Friends 6x6 papers along with an image from  the 12x12 sheet Snapshots guys in jeans.  I used a MFT jumbo stitched banner die, added some quirky paperclips and wooden chevrons and stars.

Vintage lady

Well things didn't turn out as planned yesterday. No sooner had hubby left for the day than he was back again as the car was showing a fault. He could drive it but it had lost performance and said to contact service to get it fixed. So he had to ring BMW breakdown assist and they sent out a technician. He hooked it up to the computer and said it was a very unusual fault but would need sorting at the main dealers. Luckily it is still under warranty with two years breakdown cover as well. So after a few phone calls our car will be collected on Tuesday and they have lent us a hire car.   We did get to the garden centre which we had planned to do later in the week but I only got two cards made as we were waiting on phone calls and getting a few other things done. We did sort out some photos to get printed as I had an offer come through from Photobox so lots more scrapbooking to be done. Oh and one of the smoke alarms started beeping meaning the battery needed changing. Now if hubby hadn't have been here I would have had to put up with that until he got home. It was really awkward to open as well, he spent ages fiddling with it. so all in all a funny old day.

So my card was made using Maja Denim and girls papers and an image from the 12x12 Maja sheet Sofiero Ephemera. I used a MFT scallop border die, flowers from Wild Orchid, wooden birdcage and hearts and added some diecut leaves and a bow.

Let's hope I get lots of crafting done today.

Denim and Girls

I really haven't bought much new craft stuff this year in comparison to other years but I couldn't resist buying the new Maja paper pad Denim and girls and whilst I was buying this from Swedish House Crafts I also bought 4 12x12 sheets of Maja images. This one is from the sheet Denim and girls - girls in jeans.   I haven't made any flowers with foamarin for a long time so I thought it was time I had a play with it again. I used Lady E dies no 5 and added some stamens and silver glitter acrylic paint. I also found the pink stringy stuff in my stash, no idea where I bought it, and added some pearl string from The Hobby House.

It has been such a busy week since we got home from holiday and I am still behind with catching up on blogs. ha k you for all your continued visits especially those who leave comments. I know how much time that takes and most people now just click like on Facebook rather than visiting blogs so thank you x

Star

It's the last of the three cards I made using Maja Denim and Friends papers which I was lucky enough to win from The Ribbon Girl where I would like to enter their card challenge. For this one I again used a free sentiment from Making cards and added some wooden stars and Tim Holtz game spinners.

I said October was going to be busy and we are out with friends tonight for a meal at ASK Italian and then we are going to the theatre to see Beautiful, the Carole King musical.

Seeing stars

This is the second of the cards I made using the Maja papers. The trainer paper goes so well with the bottom image. The sentiment is from Making Cards and I used a MFT Western Star die, saving the waste stars to use on the card.

Drive my car

I really love the Maja Denim and Friends papers and the two papers with images are brilliant. I made three cards with them the other day as sometimes I find it easier to make a set of cards which use the same things but are three completely different cards, I think this comes from making cards for magazines. Of course most of the time I just make individual cards using lots of different products.

I had lots of fun with this one, distressing the edges and cutting a hole in the blue paper to match his jeans. I must confess I hate this fashion though. I just don't see why anyone would spend money on buying something all ripped.  I used a MFT basic edge die, these are such a useful set of dies so I just bought the scalloped set too. I added some jute ribbon and Tim Holtz cogs.  The sentiment was free with Making Cards.

Country Rock

I was lucky enough to win The Ribbon Girl challenge a few weeks ago and my lovely prize from Maja of Denim and Friends paper pad arrived. There are two sheets of fabulous male images and I loved making this card using one of them with papers from the pack. I seem to have bought a few dies recently and he MFT western star border is one of them, a Facebook bargain for £4 plus postage. It goes perfectly with my image. The sentiment is also MFT. I added some denim washi tape from America and used the stars which were the waste from the diecut.  The cowboy hat was a lucky find amongst some stickers I bought in America.

Coffee and cake

When I received the gorgeous Maja Coffee in the Arbour papers from Dies to Die For I was so pleased to find this lovely image as part of the paper pack. I added a sentiment from LOTV, some crispy ribbon and a Joy diecut coffee pot, cup and saucer which I distressed with DI vintage photo.  Makes you think of Summer in the garden doesn't it.

Well we both suffered with jetlag for a couple of days but a few good nights sleep and yesterday we started feeling much more with it. Most of the ironing is done thank goodness and life is getting back to normal. I am doing my best to catch up with all your lovely blogs. Enjoy your Sunday.
