Sugar Nellie makes a comeback

This was another commissioned card and I used an old Sugar Nellie digi.  I love Sugar Nellie and have lots of their stamps and digis.  I coloured her with Copics and felt a bit out of practice colouring hair but am really pleased with how this turned out.  The papers are First Edition and I used some old paper flowers and a Lawn Fawn stitched circle die.

 

All I want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas is for Coronavirus to go away and life to get back to normal. I think that is going to be a while though so in the meantime we just have to stay safe.

I was sorting through my coloured diecut images from The Hobby House and found his sweet Sugar Nellie one. The papers are some old Kaisercraft ones called Dear Santa. They come with some diecut borders and shapes so I decided to make a card using just those. I did add some pearl dots sing a Viva pearl pen but hat was all.

Well it's November now and I still have several Christmas cards to make so best get on with some today.

 

New adhesive glitter card

I received a parcel of adhesive glitter card yesterday from Trimcraft which came in very handy as I thought with plenty of time for crafting I should get some Christmas cards made.  I used a coloured Hobby House topper of a Sugar Nellie image just adding some sparkle to her wings with a clear sparkle pen. The papers are First Edition Perfect Christmas.

Now onto the adhesive glitter card, which really impresses me.  I am a big fan of glitter card but often find it can be a challenge to stick particularly when trying to stick onto glitter card for layering. A lot of glitter card works well with dies but not punches so I was keen to see if this was any different. The answer is yes it punched easily and the backing lifts so easily too. It is also non shed. I used a Woodware holly punch, Memory Box stitched holly leaves and berries and Marianne poinsettia dies.

It comes in packs of 12 A5 sheets at £3.99 a pack. I used red and green from the brights pack but there are four different packs. I also have a metallic pack so will be trying that one out soon.

Love snow people

I am much preferring the weather this week. It has made me feel like doing so much more than last week. Yesterday hubby went off to the powerboats at 12.30 giving me plenty of time for crafting once I had finished the ironing. I spent quite a while on my cross stitch which I am finding very addictive. In between I made some cards. This is a Sugar Nellie coloured topper from The Hobby House. I teamed it with some LOTV papers, ribbon from stash, Roxstamps cross stitch circle die from Swedish House Crafts and some new snowflake dies I bought in the Sizzix sale.  I diecut them from white glitter card and added fun flock and glitter to the image.  The sentiment is LOTV.

Housework and shopping today and then some crafting time I think.

Picking apples

Firstly thank you for such lovely positive comments on my blog yesterday. I made this card for a friend whose Birthday was yesterday so I can now share it with you. I absolutely love the old Elisabeth Bell stamps which Sugar Nellie used to sell. In fact they were some of the first stamps I ever bought. I bought this one a while ago from somebody on Facebook as I never had her in my collection. They are such a delight to colour and as my friend shares my love of purple I was able to use my fave colour too.

I coloured her with Copics, papers are First Edition Butterfly kisses, lace and cheesecloth from stash, flowers from Wild Orchid.  I used MFT wonky stitched oval and stitched ric rac dies.  The ric rac die is a new one which I have wanted for ages but it was out of stock. I know I am going to be using that one a lot.

Sweet Christmas Fairy

I have been feeling rather poorly all week as I have had a cold and the dreaded cough again. Thankfully the cough is nowhere as bad this time and shouldn't last for four months like the last one I hope! Good job we didn't have too much planned this week and I managed to get through my cardmaking class with only one bout of coughing. The class went very well and four people signed up for the next one on 26th June even though we will be making similar cards.  I am doing an additional one as the first one filled up so quickly.

I decided to look though my bag of Christmas toppers and found some lovely Hobby House Sugar Nellie images. I have been doing some colouring this week as well but can't share those cards yet.  I added some sparkle with Spectrum noir sparkle clear and white pens.  I used some old papers, Memory Box holly and Sue Wilson poinsettia dies.  The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons.

An old favourite

Some of the first rubber stamps I bought were Sugar Nellie and I treasure those stamps and must use more of them. They did also bring out some digis later on and I love the sweet girls, this one is Sophia. I haven't been colouring too much lately, something I need to remedy so I rummaged through my stamped and printed images and decided to try this one. They are great images for practicing hair colouring and I am fairly pleased with the way she turned out.  I kept the layout simple so she could really be the main focus of the card.

I ma having a haircut and colour today. I would love to have my hair with some red in it but each time I have tried it the red fades really quickly. My hair just won't keep the colour so I stick to blonde and caramel colours now.

Christmas fairy

I had a lovely time colouring some images on Friday whilst our new windows were being fitted. After doing the ironing there really wasn't anything useful I could do. I coloured 10 images so yesterday I was able to make three cards and have seven coloured images left to use.  I really enjoy a colouring session like that and must do that more often.

I adore Marina Fedotova's beautiful artwork and Whimsy Stamps now have several of her designs which used to be sold by Sugar Nellie.  This is Snowflake Wishes coloured with Copics. I used a Sakura clearstar pen for the silver bells and snowflakes and a Spectrum Noir moonlight sparkle brush pen on her wings. Having the image already coloured gave me more time to spend on the card and I  got out my heat gun to use with the Stampendous chunky white embossing enamel.  I used MFT wonky stitched rectangle and circle dies, a snowflake die, Memory Box I think plus a Tonic snowflake punch.  The papers are Wild Rose Frosted Lace.

A blast from the past

Once upon a time I used to use a lot of Sugar Nellie stamps but they stopped making their stamps and closed the challenge quite some time ago. They are such lovely stamps and I don't think I would ever get rid of them. I really must make the effort to use more of them. Anyway her is one of the gorgeous fairy stamps coloured with Copics. I used chalk and a MFT mini cloud stencil for the sky and Spectrum Noir sparkle brush pens on her wings. The papers were a Birthday present, Paper Boutique a touch of Winter. I added a LOTV sentiment, flowers from Hobbycraft and ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.

Now and then

I was lucky enough to win Squirrel's last challenge and was determined to join in her current fun challenge of then and now The idea is to see how your style and colouring skills have improved. I decided to go right back to one of my first stamps and one of my first blog posts in June 2009. I still love this stamp and will never get rid of her. The difference in colouring and layout skills are amazing. It is amazing to see how much my photography skills have improved too!

We are out tonight, meal at Pizze Express and then Rhythm of the Dance at the theatre. We have seen this show a few times, mainly Irish dancing. Every time the show is different so should be a good night.

I have two DT cards due today and very unusually for me I decided to make one card to fit both. I have also used an unusual combo as I rarely use bright green.  I don't like publishing 2 DT cards on the same day as one detracts from the other I always think but sometimes it is unavoidable. Birthday present

It's another anything Sugar Nellie goes challenge at The Sugar Bowl and I have used another of the fabulous furry friends. This one is actually free with any purchase. He has been coloured with Copics using the dot technique. I also used a Sakura gold star pen on the ribbon.. The papers and sentiment are LOTV. I used a Marianne die set for all the circles and part circles and added some baker's twine.

Oops!

This is my second post today. Why the post title you ask? Well today goes to show that no matter how organised you are, with lists and charts, yes that's me, anyone can make a mistake. I usually schedule several posts at once, have lists for all my DT work and a rolling month listed on one of my whiteboards in my craftroom.  I had this one ready to schedule for next Thursday so imagine my surprise to find I had the date wrong and my DT card for the new challenge of animals only, no humans, at Crafty Ribbonswas due today. Oops indeed especially as I am the host!

So onto my card which features one of the cute furry friends images from Sugar Nellie coloured with Copics. The papers and sentiment are LOTV, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons obviously. I used a Clearly Besotted edge die and added some baker's twine and pearls.I would like to enter this into the anything goes challenge at Little Miss Muffet.

A Little Note

This is one of three cards I made for Making Cards magazine using Furry Friends stamps from Sugar Nellie. I coloured it with Copics using the dotty technique which I love using on fur. The papers are LOTv Winter Wishes. I added a kraft tag and stamped a LOTV sentiment on to it and added a Tim Holtz bulldog clip and some baker's twine. A few brown pearls completes the card.
