Christmas is a time to remember those we have loved and lost and some of you will know that I lost my oldest friend in April this year. Her family have placed a small Christmas tree on her grave and have invited friends to tie a tag on it for her. Janet loved snowmen particularly The Snowman so I immediately knew I had to use this image. There's a very interesting challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show to be inspired by Tim Holtz's tags. Of course I am nowhere near as clever as him with my techniques but nonetheless was determined to give it a go as soon as I saw his tags for December 2012. This was just the inspiration I needed. Here are Tim's wonderful tags.
I blended DI Broken China and faded Jean on the backgrounds, distressing the edges. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I've added some seam binding from Crafty Ribbons, a MS punched snowflake, Viva Decor pearl pen drops and wooden letters which I heat embossed with WOW metallic copper embossing powder. I only watch Create and Craft occasionally usually whilst ironing and it must have been fate that I was watching Debbi Moore yesterday as she showed how to use a Versamark pen with embossing powder. I didn't realise you could get a pen so off to Hobbycraft I went and it was just perfect to use with these tiny letters. It was a challenge to hold them still to heat emboss as they tried to fly around the desk. That would have amused Janet who has a great sense of fun. I love the effect of heat embossing and don't do it often enough. I might become addicted now.
I just need to find the right words for the back now, wrap it in plastic so it doesn't get damaged by the weather and go out and attach it to her tree.
