10 years of blogging

I have always loved making things and started cardmaking in May 2006 after buying a cardmaking kit and some papers.  In June 2009 a friend persuaded me to start a blog. I had no idea what I was doing at first but I started posting and following blogs and in turn people started following me. As time went on I learnt how to improve the look of my blog and enter challenges. I applied for and was accepted on my first challenge design team in January 2010.

Social media has changed things and some people no longer use their blogs. Happily many do and it is always lovely to see new people starting a blog. Whilst other social media platforms are fine the thing I love about blogging is the information on the products used and the personal information many people include in their posts. I have often bought items because I read about them on a blog after admiring a card.

So here I am still blogging after 10 years and with 1772 followers. During that time I have been on several design teams for both challenges and craft companies. I have designed for those companies for their stands at craft shows and for their TV shows. I am currently a DT member for Lili of the Valley and Swedish House Crafts and feel very privileged to promote their products.  Whilst Pink Gem no longer have a design team or blog I design for them to showcase their new images. I have also designed for several cardmaking magazines although I have reduced this to mainly one magazine to enable me to concentrate on other things.  I sell at craft fairs and in a local vintage tearooms/gift shop where I also now run cardmaking classes.

So here’s to all those who post their lovely projects and share a little about themselves. Let’s all keep posting, visiting and commenting on blogs to keep blogland alive.

Congratulations Marianne. Time goes so quickly doesn't it? It's a little sad to see so many people no longer blogging, but I guess life gets in the way, and there are so many other social media too. But I do agree that you can get so much information from somebody's blog about products etc. Christine xx

Congratulations Marianne, I too enjoy blogging. For me it is a diary of products used and also it is nice to look back on old projects and a record of how we grow. Thanks for sharing and lets keep blogland alive!

Congratulations Marianne on your 10th year anniversary of blogging.
Like you I enjoy both visiting and commenting on blogs and writing up my own. There is a fabulous personal touch on the blogs that isn't on social media sites, in my opinion.
I've made many friends through blogging, in person and cyberspace and cherish them all.
I won't be quitting blogging anytime soon, and it's always a pleasure to visit you and see your wonderful creations and to hear what you and Graham have been up to.
Here's to the next 10 years, Kate x x

What a lovely post Marianne and congrats on ten years, you'r only a few months behind me it seems and I remember you from those early days - where has that time gone?

I am so pleased to read what you say about blogging as opposed SM for sharing our creations, it's the same for me as it's nice to know how people created what they have made and it offers inspiration as well. It's exactly the same with challenge entries, sadly more and more people are linking up work and just a list of challenged and not a word about it, makes it very hard as a DT sometimes know if it's eligible. Sure you know what I mean.

So I'm 100% with you on keeping blogland going.

Congrats Marianne, wow you are a real gem of a lady, full of inspiration, love and commitment. I agree let's keep our blogs alive as they are dwindling down and not many bother anymore and facebook has taken over lives in all aspects which is not always good....take care and keep on keeping on.xxxxxx

I couldn't agree more about keeping blogland alive! I LOVE blogging and it's such a lovely showcase of our journey. I like you, have also purchased things after reading about them on a blog when I'd loved a creation. I do think so much more is possible with a blog post than any other format and I for one, will keep going. It's been so nice to watch some of your journey Marianne, you're one of my favourite blog buddies, long may our blogs last! Hugs, Wends xoxo

Wow, ten years of blogging with wonderful works and a lot of story, BIG CONGRATS, Marianne!!! You are very talented and your crafty works are very inspiring!
I too love reading about how bloggers works are done and what items were used, even if I know very well how much time is needed for this, it's a hard work.
Loved reading about your craft journey! Have a lot of fabulous years of blogging also in the future!!
