Christmas Carol

Thanks for all your lovely comments yesterday. You certainly seemed to love the shaped easel. I made it on Tuesday and it was one of the first cards I sold yesterday at the fair. It was my best ever fair, which was fantastic so I need to get busy as I have 6 fairs in November.  By the time we got home and put everything away and made some soup I was rather tired so didn't get round to commenting so will try to catch up a bit today.

That countdown clock is alarming me slightly as I still have Christmas cards to make, despite making them all year round. I tried colouring this cutie to make it look more like fur, quite successful I thought. I have been admiring the Dee's trees for a while and just had to buy one, very useful to have a smaller tree though I think now I would like the bigger one to match too.

Studying hard

Sadly it's my last week of my 3 months as a Guest Designer at  Papertake Weekly and as it is the last week of the month we have a sketchie free for all. I have chosen to use the new sketch this week, 84.

Thanks so much to Dawny P, Sharon and the rest of the team for having me along.

Another of my first Sugar Nellies

As promised last week I used another of the first 3 SN stamps I bought back in 2008. I still love this Elisabth Bell image and believe you can actually buy her as a digi now. I used my original stamp from Funky Kits, I think there are pros and cons for rubber and digi but somehow I feel like I own a rubber stamp more than a digi which is just stored on a computer, and backed up of course too.

As many of you will know the lovely Mandy has stepped down from Crafty Ribbons after running the challenge since it started. Mandy has some health issues at the moment and so the Crafty Ribbons DT have all made something to send her. You can see the rest of the creations on the Inpiration blog.

Purple Wedding

This was made for an order and I was of course very pleased to be asked to make a purple Wedding card. The backing paper is Papermania Henbury Lane and I have used another of the diecuts I bought from Facebook, Cheery Lynn I think. I have alo used my fave banner die from La La Land, a variety of Wild Orchid flowers, and a charm and bow from stash. I mainly use baker's twine for charms these days but wanted to keep this silver to match the bow and sparkly paper. Even with the right tools I still find attaching the chain to the split ring and getting the ring closed tight enough quite a struggle but I got there in the end.

Check out the train

It's that train again, this time stamped in grey and sprayed with spray and sparkle. I stamped it twice again and raised the top oval. The papers are Docrafts Kraftnotes Christmas, sentiment I found in my stash and the holly vine was made with a MB die and pearls.

It's my DT card for Winter Wonderland where our challenge is check this out. We want to see something checked on your creation and you could win a £10 voucher from

Steampunk Tag/Bookmark

This is my second DT make today.

Our challenge at Crafty Ribbons this week is anything but a card. I have my next craft fair on 30th October and hope to have a few of these bookmarks/large tags to sell. After making a girly one with my new Prima doll stamp I wanted to make a steampunk one. It's the first time I have tried something like this and nowhere near as clever and complex as some of you clever crafters make but I loved making it and will definitely be giving some more a try.

All the products are Tim Holtz except the rubon pennyfarthing and ribbon which is from Crafty Ribbons of course. Even that has had the DI vintage photo treatment as I didn't want it white. I used various rubons and stamps, then DI Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany. I then heat embossed the die cut on the edge steampunk cad with copper embossing powder and added a bulldog clip.

Challenges
Crafty Catz A gift to remember

Fairy and Butterflies

I made this card for a friend's Birthdy and it is also my DT card for Crafty Little Fairies and we have the easiest theme there is this week, anything goes, yes anything, and of course you can use any image you like.
Image - Lili of the Valley

The sentiment is actually more burgundy than it looks on this picture, which looks purple and looks like the wrong colour for this card.

Pop back later for my Crafty Ribbons make.

First Sugar Nellie stamp

In 2008 I discovered Sugar Nellie stamps at Funky Kits after Lynsey sent me a Christmas card in 2007 using one of their images. I bought 3 and unlike some stamps from other companies which have since been sold, I still have all my Sugar Nellie stamps. It's funny but the first 3 are still 3 of my favourite stamps but haven't been used for a while so watch this space for the other 2 hopefully coming soon.

Christmas Wishes

Brilliant craft fair yesterday, the most I have sold for a while and lots of money raised for cystic fibrosis too. Managed a little blogging when I got home but apologies if I haven't returned your visit.

This is a great image for practicing hair colouring and I do love colouring hair. Always room for improvement but pretty pleased with the way this turned out. I was in the mood for playing around and spent ages making this card.

Vintage Train

Regulars o my blog will know how much I love the Stampendous Snowy Postcard stamp and when I saw this one on the lovely and talented Nic's blog I had to buy it. Hubby loves steam trains so I think this may well be on his card this year. I stamped it with DI Vintage Photo twice and then used lots more DI on the images. The top one was cut out and raised on foam pads. I decided to just colour the holly with Copics for a change. The paper is Kaisercraft Dear Santa and I have distressed all the edges. I added a kraft border cut with a MB Frostyville die and some pearls.

I was looking through stamps for sale on eBay and came across this cutie and was lucky enough to win the bid. I love playing around with different ideas sometimes and for my DT project for this week's challenge of Wrap it up at Winter Wonderland I decided to have a play with some washi tape. I made the flower with some scraps of paper and a Marianne poinsettia die. I used a Woodware holly punch and some of my favourite hessian along with a LOTV sentiment and some recycled gold baubles from some Christmas wrapping.

Candy Winners

Thanks to everyone who entered my Birthday candy. It seems that many of you thought having 4 winners was a good idea. What a job I gave myself though in sorting it out. I had to number everyone according to their choice. I drew the winners using random org.

So here are the lucky winners.
A
 B
  Sammy
 C
  Lexie

Could the winners please email me their addresses by Saturday 12th. If I don't hear from anyone then I will draw again on Sunday.

Sorry you can't all be winners but there is sure to be some more candy on here soon. I am going to the Hobbycrafts show at the NEC so will be on the lookout for something nice to offer.

Please scroll down for today's card.

Snowy Postbox

Thank you so much for all the lovely Birthday wishes. I had a lovely day at Colchester Zoo, even fed a giraffe and elephant. The weather was glorious for October and we sat outside for coffee and for lunch. I had some lovely cards and pressies, some crafty, and some money which I shall be saving for the NEC next month.

I was inspired to make this card by a photo challenge on the Docrafts site. I love Teri's scene digis at Delicious Doodles and I knew I wanted to colour just the postbox with Copics. The paper is from a new pack I bought at The Range, Dovecraft Tis the Season. The dies are both Marianne and I added some raffia lace and a Crafty Sentiments digi sentiment and some stickles.

Birthday Candy

This post will stay at the top until 8th October. Please scroll down for newer posts.

I always like to give some candy away for my Birthday and this year I thought I would do something different. Instead of giving everything away to one person I have chosen a variety of things and made 4 candies so I can give something away to 4 people. They are all worth about the same and all have some lovely embellishments.

So to enter my candy
You must be a follower
Add my candy picture to your sidebar with a link back to my blog
Leave me a comment telling me whether you would like A, B, C or D.

You must choose which candy you would like. Please do not say any of them or A or B for example. I will only be entering people into the draw who have chosen A, B, C or D.

This candy is open until midnight on my Birthday (8th October).

It's my Birthday and James and the Snowman

Yes, today is my Birthday and what do I have to share with you today, a Christmas card, lol! It's my DT card for Papertake Weekly where we want to see two of something. I have lots of them - figures, dies, ribbons, mittens, Happy Christmas and main colours.

Leaf Peeping

This is the third of my layouts this week and very different to the busy Christmas one a couple of days ago. We adore New England in the fall and were there this time last year. Every where you look is a photo opportunity and it is difficult to choose which ones to make into layouts. Hubby was messing around saying he was leaf peeping, which is what they call it, so I had to use this photo.

Just for a change I made a layout with no papers. The card is Core'dinations Graphic 45 and I used a mask for the first time which I bought at Ally Pally in April. I used DI Spiced Maramalade and added some paper leaves from Michaels, raffia, some Teresa Collins and Papermania Persimmon bits and American Crafts letters. Love the saddle stitching on these letters.

Here comes Santa

After my very busy scrapbook layout this morning, something much more simple. I bought some black Cheery Lynn Santa diecuts from somebody on Facebook and made some 5" square cards which I sell in packs of 2. I used First Edition Silent Night paper, Memory Box die and white glitter card and Crafty Ribbons Christmas ribbon from last year. I really love the way these turned out. I had to cut off the lead reindeer, sorry Rudolph as the diecut was too big for the card. I was lucky enough to win $15 to spend at Scrapyland so I chose the Impression Obsession die which is similar but has 2 rows of reindeer. I also chose a Memory Box snowdrift die, shame about the $11 postage but still less than the cost of the 2 dies so I am looking forward to getting those.

I went to the doctor yesterday about my back as although the osteopath has straightened out my posture and got rid of the general backache I am still getting sudden sharp pains on one side. She has referred me for an X ray to see if anything was damaged when I fell in May. Today we are both going for a health check, blood pressure etc as it is a while since we had that done. Then I need to pop in The Range for some boxes and a browse of the craft section I'm sure, then lunch out and visit my Mum.

Happy Holidays

I am on a roll with my layouts and actually completed 3 this week after weeks of not doing any. I find once I start I want to do more and more. It's such a lovely thing to create especially as I get to keep them unlike the cards I make. This one is a rather busy page, rather like Disney at Christmas. I wanted to keep with a red, gold and green colour scheme and reflect the Christmas trees in the photos.

The pics were taken in Florida of course, papers are Deja Vus Fair Isle Christmas. I also used MB ornament die. Marianne Christmas tree die, Tim Holtz salvage stickers, Papermania Christmas trees, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and a sentiment from stash.
