Believe in the Magic of Christmas

I'm so pleased with how this card turned out. Sometimes you have an idea in mind with an image and the card doesn't come out as well as you planned but using the sketches at Christmas challenges with sketches really helps and this week's is a beauty as usual. Lots of lovely layers to ply around with. I rotated the sketch to fit my image. Somebody gave me some stamped images a while ago and I therefore have no idea who makes this wonderful stamp so if anyone knows please leave me a comment. I just added some glossy accents to his glasses and some glitter to the snowflakes.

The papers are Kaisercraft, apropriately called Dear Santa. I also used some bell charms, faux leather, Tim Holtz salvage sticker sentiment, hessian and a metal corner from Wild Orchid. I've used Di Vintage Photo and distressed all the edges too.

I would also like to enter this into the Child's Christmas challenge at Wild Orchid and Magical/Mystical at Incy Wincy.

I usually schedule my posts at least a day before they post as I mainly use my iPad for linking and commenting. It's so much quicker for commenting and the only problem is when people have their comments embedded in the post instead of as a pop up box. I won't bore you with why. If you don't have your comments as a pop up box here's a little plea from me to change your setting. I recently suggested this to somebody and she changed and commented that it is much better.

Lastly welcome to my latest follower, Olivia B. Thanks for following me x

Light a Candle

It's reminder time at Crafty Ribbons and our challenge is to use at least 2 ribbons. I've used 2 gorgeous velvet ribbons which you buy from their online shop here. The beautiful image is a LOTV diecut with I cut out with a nestie and inked the edges with DI Tattered Rose. The papers are some old Papermania ones and I simply added some MS punched snowflakes.

Christmas Wreath With Love

Still working away at these orders. This is my 4th A5 card out of 6. For this one I have used a cute Tulip stamp from Docrafts which has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I've added lots of glitter and Viva Decor pearl pen drops for snow. I'm still using up these old Papermania papers. It's an A4 pad so very useful for this size card. I've also used a corner rounder and 3 MS snowflake punches with kraft.

Cute carol singers and candy winner

Firstly I am sorry I haven't been visiting much the last 3 days. I have been so busy. Sunday was the craft fair all day and yesterday we were out all day. I did get time to make this card yesterday evening so that's another order crossed off. It's another A5 card which features a very cute Digistamp Boutique image coloured with Promarkers. I used some lovely glittery old Papermania papers, a wooden tree, some tiny punched music notes, baker's twine, Viva Decor pearl pen, buttons and a Sizzix die cut glittery tree. I've never used buttons to decorate a tree before but these teeny buttons look rather cute I think.

That's you, Kelly Lloyd. Congratulations. Drop me an e-mail.

Talking of candy, have you seen the fabulous rustic candy The Ribbon Girl is giving away. Hop over for the chance to win. It's gorgeous.

Best Friends

Yesterday's craft fair went really well and we had a lovely day meeting up with several crafters we know there.

It's another ordered 8" card today. I am so lucky that most of the orders I have are unspecified in terms of image, colours etc so I ca use what I like. I've used another of the large LOTV mini masterpieces but this time I used a Nestie with it. I've used some more older Papermania papers, DI Forest Moss, vintage ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, MB holly die from My Crafty Heart, pearls from The Hobby House and banner and sentiment from Craftwork Cards, which I raised with foam pads.

Gone Fishing blog candy

This post will remain at the top until 25 November.
Would you like to win this stamp?

Just leave me a comment below and I will draw a winner on Monday 26 November.
You must be a follower and post a pic with a link to my blog in your sidebar please.

Let it Snow and I've been published!

I had a lovely e-mail from somebody who bought some cards from me recently at a craft fair asking if she could order 6 Christmas cards. She wanted A5 size, which is not my favourite size to make. I do find square cards easier for some reason but I was surprised how well this came out. Using the fabulous sketch at Christmas challenges with sketches really helped. They have really great sketches with lots of layers, which I love. If you haven't tried this challenge before then check them out.

Of course the other thing with making A5 cards is that you can't use 6 x 6 paper for the backing paper so I had a sort through my papers and found lots of green left in this old  Papermania pack so I challenged myself to make an all green card. Not a colour I usually use on its own, as it isn't a favourite of mine but I do really like the soft green.

Ding Dong Merrily on High

I'm back with a second card. After my dinky little card earlier this one is an 8" card. I love making these as you have so much scope with them. I've used one of the large mini masterpiece diecuts from Lili of the Valley edged with DI Worn Lipstick and a LOTV sentiment. The gorgeous vintage ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, roses from Wild Orchid, pins from The Hobby House, music die from My Crafty Heart, metal corner from a Facebook selling group.

Get in shape

Saturday means another challenge at Totally Gorjuss and this week we are looking for anything that isn't square. This week we are sponsored by The Hobby House, what a great prize. I've made a dinky card for my craft fairs as some people like a more traditional image. I made the card with Go Kreate dies. The stamp is a Papermania one and I also used a LOTV sentiment stamp. They are coloured with Promarkers, paper is Papermania Home for Christmas. As it is small it only needed a wooden bird also coloured with PMs and a bow to finish it off.

I would like to enter this into something that flies at Delicious Doodles

Gingerbread House

This week at Winter Wonderland Karen's challenge is food, glorious food. I had several images in mind but when my new Elisabeth Bell stamps arrived I just couldn't wait to use this cutie. She has been coloured with Promarkers. I used a Sakura Goldstar pen for added sparkle and  inked the edges with DI Worn Lipstick and added glitter glue around the edges of the Nestie and the icing on the house. I love the rich colours of these Kaisercraft Dear Santa papers. The banner is Craftwork Cards, sentiment LOTV, scroll made with a MB die and the glittery candy cane is K and Co.

We have two wonderful regular sponsors who are Pink Gem with a prize of 4 fabulous digis and Crafty-emblies with a £10 voucher.

My favourite WOJ stamp

Sometimes challenges ask you to use your favourite stamp. I could never choose just one stamp as a favourite but if I had to choose a top ten this Whiff of Joy stamp would definitely be in there. I don't use her often enough as colouring the folds is a challenge. I looked back on my blog to earlier tries and I have to tell you that whilst this is in no way perfect it is so much better than my first attempts which are quite awful. Maybe one day I will colour perfectly. I the meantime I will keep on practicing and I think you may see her again before Christmas.

She has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I also used a Sakura Goldstar pen and lots of glitter for snow. Papers are from The Snowman pack. The gorgeous ribbon and lace are from Crafty Ribbons, sentment is from LOTV, bird and cage are MB dies.

I was lucky enough to win this stamp and as I wanted to make a Christmas card in untraditional colours thought I would make a completely untraditional card. She has been coloured with Promarkers. I also used a Sakura pen and lots of glitter for sparkle. The papers are Wild Rose from last year and I used a MS border punch, MB snowflake corner die, Anita's ribbon, pearl sprays from Wild Orchid, ribbon flowers from Meiflower and roses from Michaels.

Friends in the snow

As promised I am back with my second post and it's another Christmas card but I made an easel card for a change. I do love these. I've used another of my new LOTV stamps coloured with Promarkers with lots of glitter for the fur on the hat and the snow. I've distressed all the edges and used DI Work Lipstick. I sanded some Core'dinations and used it with a MS snowflake border which I don't use very much. I don;t know why beacuse it is lovely so I shall make an effort to use it more.  I used a TH on the edge file tab which I bought on eBay. I mainly wanted it for scrapbooking and as I haven't had any time for that lately this is its first outing. Sanded Core'dinations again with a LOTV stamped sentiment. The star butons are from America and I used baker's twine. Can't have naked buttons, unless they are very tiny.

Thank You

This is an 8" card which was ordered as a thank you. Another very different card for me using some Crafter's Companion decoupage. I used some of the gorgeous Papermania Henbury Lane papers, Dovecraft bunting, punched butterfly, MB die cut butterfly strip, lace from stash and a butterfly embossing folder with Centura pearl.

Canada

Something very different from me today. It's not Christmas and it's not cute. Its a Birthday card I made for a friend who loved it. He and his wife are going on holiday to Canada next year so I decided to use that as the theme for his card. The backing paper is Bo Bunny Weekend Market. The ticket and sentiment stamps are Tim Holtz, stamped onto kraft distressed with DI Vintage Photo. I found the distressed flag on the internet and stamped a couple of arrows, used a MB cloud die, Baker's twine and a clock charm, which I think is from Wild Orchid.

Traditional colours for this bag

What a great weekend. Friday we went to the theatre to see Marti Pellow in Blood Brothers, Saturday I was selling at a craft fair, which went quite well, and today we are off out with friends this afternoon for a meal and then off to see The Searchers in concert. (They are a 60s band for those youngsters amongst you.)

I've made another of my bags for the craft fairs. I've used some free Holly Hobbie papers along with a Little Claire diecut. I've edged the paper with DI Forest Moss and the diecut iwth Worn Lipstick. The card candi and sentiment are from Craftwork Cards, tree and present from Anitas which I found in my stash, Woodware punched holly leaves and a bulldog clip to finish. I wanted to make a more traditional style with a modern twist.

Plain and Simple

We are looking for plain and simple cards at Totally Gorjuss this week, and we are sponsored by Heather's Hobbie Haven. Now I interpreted this a bit differently to clean and simple and made a card with the minimum of embellishments for me anyway.

I've used one of my new Simply Sassy digis from Sugar Nellie, Number 1 Fan. I've always loved this image and when he came out as a digi just had to buy him. He has been coloured with Promarkers. Quite a challenge to colour as the lines are very light but I do love spending time colouring. I love how his jeans came out looking bleached and I didn;t use the blender pen, just 3 Promarkers. The papers are a mix of MME Miss Caoline and Echo Park a Boy's Life. I used a Sizzix Primitive Star die and a paper crimper.

Oh Joy a Snowman

Brr an nice icy cool card today. I bougt some new LOTV stamps and this was one of them. I do love snowmen and this one has been coloured with Promarkers with a touch of Sakura Bluestar and a red glitter pen. I decided to make a card with no papers for a change, using Core'dinations which distressed. I used a swiss dots embossing folder and then covered most of it up with some gorgeous vintage ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. I added  lace doily, sentiment from Pollycraft, MS punched snowflakes with glitter card, MB cloud die with embossed Core'dinations and a Sizzix gate die.

Polly Put the Kettle On

Time for some mid week inspiration for the Nursery Rhymes challenge at Crafty Ribbons and I have chosen Polly Put the Kettle on as my nursery rhyme. This is actually a Birthday card I recently sent to my friend Lisa. I've used a stamp I bought recently, a very cute Sarah Kay, which has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. The papers are Lucy Cromwell and the sentiment is actually part of a Little Claire die cut image. I have used various MB dies and the gorgeous french roses ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. I bought this image last year to use on my hubby's Christmas card and thought it was time I used it again. They have been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers with some touches of Sakura Goldstar pen. I've used a Nestie with kraft behind the image, some Woodware punched holly leaves, card candi, bow from Meiflower and gorgeous velvet ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. Snow

When I saw that Belles and Whistles was sadly closing down and the were offering 50% discount on their stamps I just had to buy some Elisabeth Bell ones as I love her images. This is the first one I have used. I don't seem to have made many blue and white cards this Christmas simply because I don't have that many Christmas papers in those 2 colours. These are all old papers, the vellum I bought at a show years ago. The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, sentiment from Crafty Sentiments. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and die cut with a Nestie. To achieve her faded jeans I used a blender very quickly after the blues before they had time to dry. Loads of glitter and a Sakura bluestar pen for plenty of glitz. The snowflakes were made with a MS punch and Centura pearl card. I don;t think I have ever used white glitter card with the Marianne poinsettia dies before but I really like it with blue Centura pearl holly leaves. Try punching leaves in different colours to match your card, green wouldn't have looked right at all.

This stamp was a recent buy from Lili of the Valley. Some images you see a lot but I don;t remember ever seeing this one before, though I'm sure I must have done. I thought it was such a sweet image which has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers with a little red glitter pen and glitter on the fur and snow. The papers are some old Papermania ones. I've used some gorgeous velvet ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, MB holly die, pearls from The Hobby House, LOTV grunge sentiment, Woodware punched holly leaves and some flowers from stash. I also made a photo corner from kraft.

She has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers with lots of glitter. Flashdance and all things Gorjuss

Do you remember Flashdance? It's such a great 80s movie and this image from The Paper Shelter captures the look so perfectly. I recently won 3 of their images in their challenge and the great thing about them is that as well as the outline image to colour you also get a coloured image, background and a composite. I love the composite and it is coloured so beautifully I spent the time saved on colouring making an interesting layout. Th papers are Prima Craftsman and these are quite industrial looking papers, which fit in with the warehouse where the main character lived. I just love this colour scheme. I've used an MS zigzag border punch and a MB music die which I cut in half. The sentiment is from an LOTV stamp set and the metal embellishments are K&Co.

Sledging

I've scheduled this post as I will have been up at 5.30 this morning to make an early start to get set up at a craft fair starting at 9am. Good job we don't mind getting up early. It's my turn to post over on the Crafty Ribbons Pure Inspiration blog and I have chosen to decorate a bag as I need some more of these to sell. I am a bit tired of some of my Christmas paper padss so thought I would check out my 12 x 12 papers and found this gorgeous pad,  Deja Vu Fair Isle which I bought in America on a previous visit. The colours match the die cut Wee image perfectly and they are lovely and sparkly too. I've used DI Weathered Wood around the edges. The gorgeous ribbon which is also a perfect match is Vintage Christmas Decorated Parcels and you can buy it here from the Crafty Ribbons shop.  Their range of Christmas ribbons is fabulous. I've added some lace, MS punched snowflakes, LOTV sentiment and a wooden sleigh from Hobbycraft. I was delighted to find a new range of wooden embellishments in there.

Do check out the Crafty Ribbons Pure Inspiration blog where you will find regular posts from the DT. It would be great if you would hop over and leave a comment there too.

Hanging up my stocking

It's time for some mid week inspiration at Crafty Ribbons where our challenge is Christmas. Well you can't get much easier than that can you. You don't have to use one of our ribbons but we would love to see them of course.  I have used some lovely seam binding which you can find here. I have used some old Papermania papers along with the Stamposaurus image wich has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I have also used a Sakura Goldstar pen, a Memory Box landscape die and a tag stamped with a grunge sentiment from LOTV. The edges have all been edged with DI Vintage Photo. Blue and kraft are definitely my faves this Christmas.
