Well wrapped up

It's that lovely bear, James today, one of my favourite bears and another of the LOTV furry friends art pad images but die cut into a circle and layered onto a red doily. The papers are LOTV 'Twas the night again, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. I used 2 new Cottage Cutz dies, scarf and boots. Aren't they cute. I added fun flock to the hat and the die cut boots and used a pearl pen for the snow.

Another day and another craft fair. This is one that I have done a few times. They only do two a year in their village hall and it is always well supported by the local community. Yesterday's craft fair was brilliant. I sold far more than I expected. I have been making some tags both to sell and to use myself. I have seen a few Santa tags around and had a play with my Fiskars tag punch I was lucky enough to win on Facebook. I used a circle die and added some red chalk, googly eyes which I have had for years and used a Memory Box moustache die and some white glitter card.

For these ones I stamped my new Inkylicious twiggy branch stamp in brown and white and added some red glitter berries. I am amazed how much I have used that stamp already, what a great buy. I then die cut some houses and trees from white glitter card using Memory Box dies.

Carefully does it

As this posts I will be setting up my stall at a craft fair. A new one for me but I know a few of the crafters who sell there. We went along to visit the last one in September and met the organisers who were very keen to have me join them. They only have handmade goods at their fairs and as there wasn't anyone else with similar cards and gifts I decided to give it a try.

So today's fun card is using one of the LOTV art pads, furry friends. I bought this a while ago and realised I hadn't used it. As I needed to make some more cards to sell and of course they are quicker to use than colouring images I have used some of these so so cute images. The papers are LOTV 'Twas the night. I found the sentiment in my stash, pretty sure it is from a Humphrey stamp. I added some die cut trees and pearl drops with some Wink of Stella on the star which doesn't show at all of course.

Well yesterday was an interesting experiment but I decided to go back to normal posting today. I prefer to see the whole card at the top and I think it is better when the card appears i people's reading lists on blogger. I know I prefer it when looking at other blogs. I also realised that I have cards ordered from people on Facebook who may not be interested in blogging. I didn't seem to make any difference to the number of comments either. I always get far far more visits than I do comments but if you have read this then thanks for looking and if you have commented too a special big THANK YOU xx.

Look what I caught!

I read an interesting blog post from Squirrel about the fact that people are liking her cards on Facebook but then not hopping over to her blog to leave comments and how to deal with that. I network my posts to Facebook but I do notice that some people who press like on Facebook don't then leave a blog comment so I thought I would try a Peek of my card appearing rather than the whole card and hopefully that will encourage more visitors to leave comments on here. I do realise of course they will not all be on blogger and able to leave comments and I appreciate every like too.

So time for another anything Sugar Nellie goes at The Sugar Bowl and I have used a stamp which I bought ages ago, inked up and then never coloured. Lovely clean lines for this card with minimal embellishments.

Better late than never

Regular visitors to my blog will recognise this gorgeous image as I use her every year. Normally she has had an outing before now but here she is at last. She is one of the first stamps I bought and I still love her just as much as I did then and I love colouring her. Whilst I love paper I have really got into using embossing folder lately.

Letter to Santa

Brrr what a cold day yesterday, couldn't believe we woke up to snow. We stayed in all day, nice and cosy. I sorted out  our Christmas card list, out in inserts and got them all written. I only have 4 more left to make for us to send but I do have some orders and more stock to make as well. I am always organised for Christmas but normally I have far more than 4 cards to make for us. I shall make a few more though as we always seem to get some we hadn't expected.

So onto my card. As soon as I saw this cute new image from Pink Gem I just had to get it and print it off. I used the pre coloured version but you also get the digi to colour.

I am so pleased with my new camera. The screen swivels out enabling me to take much straighter pictures which means I hardly have to straighten them in Photoshop. I do feel the pictiures are better quality too. There will still be some popping up on my blog which were taken with the old camera for a while as I have several cards not blogged yet which I hold in reserve.

More decorated boxes

I have been making lots more stock as I have 4 more craft fairs before Christmas. I thought I would share some more of the pretty boxes I sell which hubby paints and I decorate. He really enjoys painting them. He sets up his table and cloths in the conservatory, plays some vinyl on his 70's radiogram and paints. We have tried various paints, the newest is the pink which is a chalk paint and went on very smoothly so I shall be checking out what other colours are available.

The pleated ribbons are from Stamp an Create, the lilac one from Fantastic Ribbons. Both of these were challenge prizes where I won vouchers for their shops. The lace is from crafty Ribbons. Flowers are from I am Roses, pearl sprays from Wild Orchid and I coloured the wooden butterflies with Zig and Wink of Stella pens.

Relax

I am enjoying a relaxing weekend with no craft fairs. Mind you I won't be sitting outside like this! I have used another of the Little Claire silhouette toppers teamed with LOTV Always and Forever papers. The sentiment is a Little Claire dinkie stamp set. I added a Memory Box die cut tree and some little die cut birds. The topper is straight but blame the photographer as this was taken with my old camera.

We have a great challenge of inspired by a Christmas carol or song at A Gem of a Challenge and I chose Rudolph the red nosed reindeer as my inspiration using Rudolf Barclay. Again I used the pre coloured digi and Trimcraft The night before Christmas papers. I added wooden embelishments, Stickles and used my pearl pen. I hope you will play along with us.

A Summer's Day

It's my turn to inspire you on the Little Claire blog today with a project and I chose a lovely Summery card as a change from al the Christmas cards I am posting. I have used one of the latest releases, Bees Knees stamp set. For details of how I made my card please hop over to the Little Claire blog. I would love it if you left a comment there as well as on this post.

3 hearts

A lady rang me after buying some of my cards and a gift as she wanted to order some special Christmas cards and a couple of gifts. She asked if I could make her a triple heart plaque as she had seen some in shops but she said they were nothing like as nice as the plaques I make. I had thought of making these to sell so here is the first one I have made which I sold on Monday. I covered the hearts with some old Papermania capsule papers. I added apple blossom and roses from Wild Orchid, Prima butterflies and some pearls and a flower charm

Made for Papercraft Inspirations

I was so pleased to join the Design Team at Papercraft Inspirations magazine and this is one of the cards I made for my first feature which was published last month. I was asked to make 4 cards with the theme thinking of you but without mentioning sympathy.

The card is A6 and I used a pretty Little Claire dinkie stamp coloured with Copics. The paper is Craftwork Cards Chalkboard, sentiment is Inkylicious. I added some scrim from B&Q and Crafts Too die cut butterflies. I also used my Xcut corner rounder punch, which I have really got back into using recently.

New stamp, new camera

This is the first card picture I have taken with my new camera, which is actually my Christmas pressy from hubby. We went shopping last week and got it and I bought him a zoom lens for his SLR camera. We have also bought some smaller presents to unwrap on Christmas Day. There was no point putting my camera away until the big day and I couldn't wait to play around with it. It is a Nikon Coolpix and I am very pleased with the quality of the photos. It will be interesting to compare with other pics when this publishes and I look at it on the iPad.

Season's tweetings

How cute are these little birds which Lynsey bought me as part of my Birthday present. They are Lawn Fawn Winter Sparrows stamps and dies. I was wondering what to make with them as they are quite tiny when the idea of a little scene came to me. They have been coloured with Copics and I used Stickles on the hat trim. The lamppost is a new die I bought at he NEC from Sweet Dixie. The first die I have bought of theirs, great price and cuts and embosses in one. I added some white acryclic paint and embossed with shabby white frantage. The bench is an older Marianne die. I also used my Spellbinders curved border dies and some glitter card I bought at the NEC which I thought was white but when I got home found it is in fact a pale blue but goes well with the Trimcraft Night before Christmas paper.

There is a great prize on offer so hope to see you play along as you could win all this.

I used an Embossalicious embossing folder for my background and cut some snowy hills with my Spellbinders curved border and a Memory Box die. I added some Impression Obsessions fir trees and Santa and sligh.. The cute snowman trio have been coloured with Copics.

Choo Choo

Well I am pleased to say I finished the Christmas shopping yesterday but still have several cards to make for us to send as well as continually making cards and gifts for sale of course. So onto my card which I made for a friend's Birthday which was Monday so I can share with you today. He loves steam and model trains and last year I used Mo's Engineer image. When I saw this Hobby House topper I thought it would amuse him. I teamed it with some lovely papers I bought a few weeks ago, MME lime twist out of the blue. I love the colours of MME papers, so vibrant and of course the train paper is perfect. The sentiment was stamped onto TH ticket dies and I added a large button and jute string bow. I couldn't get the string through the buttonholes so simply stuck it on top and it looks fine. As I want more stock and I had two of these toppers I decided to make two cards the same, which is very unusual for me but a great timesaver.

I've been sewing!

It's been a very long time since I did any embroidery, which I used to love. If you saw my new goodies post I bought at the NEC you may have spotted a pack of two reindeer to sew. At just £1 I couldn't resist and amazed myself at the fact that I have actually made one already and not just put the pack away out of sight. I really enjoyed making him even though the instructions were a bit odd.For example how do you sew all round with running stitch and then most of the way with blanket stitch and then add the wadding? Anyway I figured it out and added some little bells to his antlers which weren't part of the pack. He will be decorating my home this year and I will be making the other one for my Mum as part of her pressy.

I love this sweet image, one of the recent releases, coloured with Copics with fun flock on her dress. The papers are LOTV snow princess. New stamps

A very different Christmas card from me today and I absolutely love it. In fact I may have to make a few more like it as I loved making it and it is also nice and flat for posting.  I stamped my new Inkylicious Winter Lodge stamp in brown and then used a white gel pen for snow. The foliage was made by stamping another new Inkylicious stamp, twiggy branch several times in white and brown and adding some red sparkly berries with a Sakura gelly roll pen. I sprinkled and heat embossed shabby white frantage and added the Tim Holtz diecut sentiment in white glitter card.

A new PB stamp

I spotted this stamp for sale in a Facebook group and just had to buy it. I love the PB hedgies and love colouring them and have been building up my collection a little. I find wooden stamps so easy to stamp and even though they take up more room I still love them. I know some people remove them from the wood but I couldn't bring myself to do that. To me that is a bit like people turning down the corner of a book page, I hate that.

So onot my card which has been coloured with Copics, Stickles for the snow and cut out with Spellbinders labels 10 die. I used an Embossalicious folder with linen card, MB sentiment die and Simon Says and Joy snowflake dies with glitter card.

New stash and some thoughts on the NEC show

Thought you would like to see what I bought and hear my thoughts on the NEC show. First the essentials, the more exciting purchases are below. Lots of card blanks, card stock, magnetic folder and sheets , the wonderful Stick It, Stickles, tape and glue.

A new daylight lamp as mine no longer tips where I want it. The new one was a bargain and much better I think. Papers, embossing folders, LOTV art pad, pen pots to paint and decorate and a couple of reindeer decorations to sew. I don't sew much these days but thought these might be fun.

My favourites, dies and stamps. So pleased with these. Reorganised my die storage yesterday to accommodate them all.

Lots of lovely ribbons, lace and embellishments.

So my thoughts on the show which I have voiced on Facebook. Lynsey and I had a lovely time and I am so pleased with the things I bought but....... the organisers have got too greedy in my opinion. I was lucky to win two tickets but otherwise the tickets are £12.50 though you can save £2 by buying in advance. The car park is £12 and the refreshments were ridiculously expensive. Some companies like Oyster Stamps weren't there as the cost for their size stand would have been £4,500. Little Calire weren't there and Jayne at Stamposaurus said they probably won't do it again. Some of the stands were smaller than usual no doubt due to cost. The cloakroom charge is £1 per item so by the time we both left coats and three bags as they were too heavy to carry all day, we spent £5 there.

Hubby drove us there on Wednesday and we had a lovely overnight stay and enjoyed a nice meal but the weather was horrid when we left on Thursday and he had to drive home. The traffic around Birmingham is horrendous all the time. Luckily the sat nav took us round the back roads to get onto the motorway so we didn't get stuck in traffic. Yesterday we were both feeling tired but much better today. I have had a lovely time today playing with some of my new goodies.

So would I go again, probably not. I often go to Ally Pally in April and NEC in November but I think I will go to both Ally Pally shows instead and maybe Summer Crafting. They are much nearer venues, though still involve an overnight stop which we enjoy and means hubby doesn't have to drive both way in one day. They are also much cheaper. As a comparison Ally Pally tickets are £5, parking and cloakroom are free and refreshments much cheaper.

Check out Monday's post for a card made with some new stamps.

Christmas Critters

It's new challenge day at A Gem of a Challenge and this fortnight our challenge is Christmas Critters. Once again I was spoilt for choice to know which image to use but chose of the newer ones as it is so cute, mind you they are all cute. I used a pre coloured image, so useful at this busy time. The papers are Trimcraft The Night before Christmas. I used a Joy present die, MS holly border punch and added lots of Stickles and a sentiment and glittery tree which I have had for ages.

We are meeting up with some blogging buddies at lunchtime, only one of whom we have met before. I have my money and wishlist ready.

So onto my card which is the second of my Happy Cat cards. See my post on Monday for the first card. These new stamps from Lili of the Valley are released today at the NEC and on the website from Monday.

Snowmen plaque

This is my first LOTV design collective inspiration post this month and I chose to make a Christmas plaque. The MDF heart is from MDF Craft Supplies, a great company with free postage. The paper is form my odds and ends pile. I used the TH snowflake die and matching embossing folder and added lots of glitter. The snowmen are part of the recent LOTV trio set and I added Stickles to the Copic coloured hat and pearl dots. A few enamel stars to finish.

There is a coffee and craft shop which opened about six months ago, just a few miles away and we often go there for coffee or a light lunch. They sell handmade goods by local crafters and I have some of my gifts in there. They sold 3 things in the first 5 days so I am hoping they will sell several things coming up to Christmas. This plaque is in there for sale.

Yes it is new release time at Lili of the Valley and you are going to fall in love with the new cute images. They will be on sale at the NEC this week and on the website from next Monday. Check out the sneak peeks from the rest of the Design Collective. This is Happy Cat and there are two images on the sheet plus several sentiments. The image and sentiment were cut with MFT stitched dies.I coloured the image with Copics and teamed it with LOTV Timeless Victorian papers. The wooden hearts were coloured with a Zig Woodcraft pen and the wooden butterfly with a violet wink of stella pen. I distressed the edges with DI milled lavender and bundeled sage and a distressing tool and used an Xcut rounded corner punch. The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and I added some enamel dots.

This fun stamp is one of the new releases from Little Claire. I coloured the image with Copics and added some faux stitching. The lovely tartan papers are Little Claire and the pawprint ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons.

Day at home today, odds and ends to do and need to get on with some magazine commissions and orders. Last Sunday we ended up going out for coffee and a walk and by the time we had worked our way through a pile of paperwork I ended up with very little crafting time.
