Who's for wine?

The last of three cards published in last month's Making Cards magazine. I used Pink Gem Ernie with wine pre coloured digi along with MME papers, MFT pierced fishtail dies and a sentiment stamp by Stamposaurus. The papers are so colourful I didn't need any other embellishments.

Another first magazine commission

I was delighted to be asked to design for Papercrafter magazine and this is my first commission for them. They sent me the Crafter's Companion bow die from the Downton Abbey range to use as the focus on my card. I die cut the bow, cutting two sets of the tails, from Centura Pearl card, and mounted it onto plain card.

I teamed it with papers from The Range, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and some lovely flowers from I am Roses.

More icecream

This is the second of the Belle and Boo cards I made for Quick Cards magazine using Belle and Boo stamps. I created a scene which has been coloured with Copics with chalk for the sky. I stamped the starfish, which is part of the set, onto ribbon. The papers are LOTV Nitwits Sunny Side Up and I added a lovely big MFT stitched sun.

Bit of a mix of weather here this week but it has been nice to have those blistering hot temperatures and better for sleeping at nights too. I love sunny days but not too hot. Got all the housework done yesterday so popping into my fave coffee shop this morning before the food shopping and a crafting afternoon hopefully.

A day at the seaside

If you have the latest Quick Cards magazine you will see this card along with two others which I had published. I was asked to make 3 simple cards using this stamp set to show what you can make without buying lots more dies/embellishments etc. For this one I created a scene using various stamps from the set. Coloured with Copics of course with chalk for the sky. I paper pieced her dress for a change. The papers are Nitwits Sunny Side Up. I simply used a Memory Box banner die to add some bunting.

Fashionista

I just had to buy this new Tiddly Inks digi and she was so much fun to colour especially her hair. I did have a dilemma though with her hat. Do you ever have an image where you look at something and think what does this piece belong to? I felt the hat looked right the way I coloured it but when I looked at the way some of the DT coloured it they had coloured the brim as her hair so the the hat was perched right in her hair ie just the ribbon and top coloured as the hat. What do you think?

By the sea

We enjoyed a day at the seaside yesterday and I am sure many of you have been enjoying the sunny coast too. This is another layout from last year's holiday in Yorkshire. I only have 2 more pages to do from that holiday so must try to finish those soon. The papers are DCWV Nantucket, embellishments K&Co, lettering from Michaels. These were all bought in America. I added a Scrapinec chipboard piece too.

Stirring the pudding

Animals is our new challenge at A Gem of a Challenge and there are so many Pink Gem animal digis to choose from it could have been a tough decision. As I recently printed this cute image I went with this and made a really CAS card. I used some scraps of Christmas papers and die cut them with  MFT pierced fishtail dies. I found the shaped card in my box, just added some doodling with a brown fineliner pen. I used a corner rounder punch on the image and added a sentiment from Hobbycraft.

Then off to Tesco and home to open up all the windows and get cool no doubt. So onto my card which is the second of the cards I made for Making Cards using Pink Gem images with wine. Just a little post to say I have some stamps for sale on Ebay, UK only. Some of the stamps are no longer available to buy. You can find them here.

You Did It!

I usually only make graduation cards to order, which is why I made this 8" square card. I bought 2 digis from Tiddly Inks and as the recipient has curly hair this one was perfect for her. I asked the colour of her dress and gown so I could colour the digi to match her outfit.

Teddy in the garden

This is my second inspiration card for the Lili of the Valley Facebook challenge with this month is Summer in the garden. This time I chose one of my older stamps. I do love these cute teddy stamps. It isn't available any longer but you can buy some diecuts with this image from the LOTV shop on Ebay.

I coloured the image with Copics and added clear Wink of Stella to the flower. Of course the glitter doesn't show up on here. I cute the card blank with a Tonic die and added a purple doily I bought in America. The flowers were made with a Go Kreate die and I added some coloured cabuchons I bought on Facebook. I added some faux stitching to finish.

Doncaster goodies and my thoughts on the show and others

Back as promised with several photos of my lovely new stash I bought yesterday. The only disappointment was the lack of new paper pads as I particularly wanted some new Christmas papers but I still managed to buy lots of lovely stuff. I will share my thought son the show at the end of this post.

So my first pic is papers and embellishments.

Stocked up on some essentials.

Sp pleased to buy some of the new Christmas stamps from LOTV, a couple more of those darling little Gorjuss Girls and oh look, more snowmen, couldn't resist those.

Hobby House have some gorgeous toppers and I bought an art deco pack from Debbi Moore as these images are very popular with my customers when I had some from Docrafts. The cute little toppers are for quick Christmas tags.

A lovely border punch and a few new dies. I didn't buy many for myself as I bought several at Ally Pally in April.

So my thoughts on the show and other shows. Last year I found the NEC a bit disappointing, several stands missing and very expensive to go to. £11 to park the car is ridiculous. November isn't a nice time of the year for hubby to drive all the way home in the dark either.  I really like Ally Pally but in April I thought there were less stands than usual and very few samples on the stands. It's a lovely show to visit and parking and the cloakroom are free which is very useful for leaving your bags.

Last year was my first time at Doncaster and this year was even better I thought. It was lovely to see some of the smaller companies there and there were lots of gorgeous samples to look at. Some good bargains to be had. I loved the rummage boxes at Samuel Taylors and was very pleased with my bargain of the day the Go Kreate die set reduced from £18.99 to £5.69! Cheap to go in and lots of free parking. I would definitely go there again next year.

Whichever show we go to we stay the night before and Donaster is ideal for us as we had two nights near York, spending the days at the coast, and then drove down from there yesterday morning. I have noticed that Crafting Live are in Peterborough in November so that is one for the calendar as that is much much nearer to us than Birmingham.

Create and Craft were filming live and I was captured on TV with Lynsey and my hubby as we went in. Some of my blogging friends recognised me as they commented on Facebook, fame at last! One lady took a screenshot for me. Looks like hubby comes with free P&P, but he isn't for sale!

Rocking the vinyl

I had a lovely couple of days away in Yorkshire in the sunshine. Yesterday had a brilliant day at Doncaster with Lynsey, will share some pics of my new stash later. Last week I took some time out to get another scrapbook layout done. This one was taken in January in hubby's favourite vinyl record store in Orlando, called Rock n Roll Heaven. I used some papers from Michaels, Tim Holtz ephemera pack for the tickets, a business card from another record store, We R Memory Keepers journal cards, enamel dots and retro and headphones from some free magazine papers.

Catching snowflakes

New challenge day at A Gem of a Challenge and we want you to get krafty. I love kraft so this was a really easy challenge for me. As always you can win some Pink Gem digis and as there are always new ones coming out then you will be spoilt for choice. I used Pink Gem Chilly with snowflake team with Dovecraft North Pole papers. I cut the snowflake off the image and added  a wooden snowflake coloured with a white Wink of Stella pen. I coloured the wooden snowman the same way and used a Sakura red pen on his hat and scarf. I added a chipboard greeting I won from Scrap and Craft and red pearls.

Pink plaque

Another plaque to share with you today. This one was painted with pink Rustoleum paint, then PVA glue and cream paint over the top along with some crackle accents as the Rustoleum doesn't crackle like I wanted it to. I need to try this technique with some emulsion paints. I love playing around with dies and embellishments on these plaques.
