Fly the flag

This is my second post today. Please scroll down for my Totally Gorjuss card and a review of a tape glider.

I bought this Saturated Canary image a while ago and for some reason haven't got round to colouring her. Well that has been remedied now. I went all American with this one in honour of 4th July. She has been coloured with Promarkers. I am really enjoying trying different hair colours, It's easy to get stuck using the same colours isn't it and this time I have used Cinnamon, Burnt Sienna, Amber and Buttercup. The gorgeous papers are a pack of 12 x 12, DCWV Nantucket. It's good to delve into my 12 x 12 boxes and use them for cards sometimes for a change. I've used a Sizzix heart die and MS border punch. The flag bunting borders are by K&Co, sentiment is Craftwork Cards.

It's time for another challenge and this week at Totally Gorjuss our challenge is sweet and simple. Now I took that not to mean clean and simple, which always fills me with dread, but to make it sweet and not too fussy, so here is my card. We are sponsored this week by the wonderful Lili of the Valley so you are definitely going to want to play along.

Review

I was contacted recently to ask if I would like to try out the 3M Scotch Advanced Tape Glider and review it on my blog. As I get through reels of tape I jumped at the opportunity.

Here is the official wording.
Diversified technology company 3M is giving a helping hand to crafters by offering great savings on its Scotch Advanced Tape Glider. Instead of the usual £21.82, you can get the pink tape applicator for just £11.99. And if you have lots planned, there is also a 3 for 2 offer on refill rolls. Stylish in vibrant pink, the Scotch Advanced Tape Glider is a no fuss, no mess way of applying adhesive on any number of projects. An essential piece for scrapbooking, card making and a whole host of other craft work, the Scotch Advanced Tape Glider’s finger trigger lets you release a quick controlled application of Scotch Adhesive Transfer Tape in whatever quantity you need. From the tiniest amount to a continuous strip, the glider puts you in complete control; giving neat, thin and clean bond lines with no waste and no clean up.

Scott Jermy of the 3M Industrial Adhesives & Tapes Division explains: “The Scotch Advanced Tape Glider is ideal for crafters making invitations, cards and presents and is safe to use on a variety of materials including photos and, as it is permanent, your craft projects last forever.”Each Scotch Advanced Tape Glider kit comes with two rolls of acid-free/photo-safe tape. The special offer is available for a limited period only, so pay a visit to www.3Mselect.co.uk and choose the Scotch Advanced Tape Glider link now.

Here is my opinion.
When I opened the box I was amazed at how big the glider is and how much tape you get on a roll, 216 feet and there are two rolls in the box. Now I am not the most practical of people and if my hubby had been at home he would have had the job of reading the instructions and diagrams and working out how to feed in the tape. Of course I was home alone and couldn't wait to play so decided to have a go and surprised myself by how easy it was to put in the tape and feed it through all the relevant places.

It fits so comfortably in the hand and the trigger action is so easy. You just glide it across the paper or card and let go when you reach the end. It speeded up my cardmaking no end as the backing on the tape is removed as it goes through the machine so you just glide and stick. 432 feet of tape is going to last me quite some time but I shall be looking to buy some replacements in time I'm sure.

Fairy Fae and Butterflies

Whew, that was a muggy day yesterday. Still rather warm indoors today but much fresher outside. At least we were spared those awful floods. I feel so sorry for anyone affected by them.

I downloaded Google Chrome to use for my blog. I have no idea how it works with Internet Explorer but am using it for the first time today and it is so much faster. More like using the IPad. Amazing.

I bought some digis from Delicious Doodles the other day and had great fun colouring in this gorgeous fairy. It's the first time I have tried colouring an image like this and I am rather pleased for a first attempt.

My favourite LOTV stamp

Lili of the Vally is one of my favourite stamp companies and this fairy is my very favourite of their stamps. and probably the one I have used the most. If I had to choose my top 3 stamps she would be in there. After all who could choose just one favourite stamp. She is just so delicate and girly and I love to colour her in pastel shades. I can't imagine her in bright colours like yesterday's card. Unusually for me I only used one paper as it is so gorgeous and sparkly I wanted to see as much of it as possible.

More red, white and blue

This is one of my first ever stamp purchases and still one of my favourites, which hasn't been inked up for far too long. I have always coloured her in pinks and purples before but I am loving her in this colour combo. Just the one post from me today as hubby isn't working so we are going to visit my good friend Lynsey as she is very poorly.

Well here I am back again with my third post today. It's a lovely Summery scene this time. It's still warm here and my washing is dry but it has been cloudy all afternoon. I believe it is meant to get cooler again at the end of the week. Oh joy!

Something different for my second card today. I have used some stamps I bought in America but didn't keep the packaging, something I always do nowadays. So I don't know the make but if you do can you tell me please. I have coloured them with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. They don't stamp very black so I had to go over the girl silhouette with a black Promarker. The backing paper is HOTP Forever Christmas and the other is Papermania Portobello Road. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the USA border is K&Co.

Brooklyn Bridge

I hope you all had a good weekend despite the weather. We had the most horrendous thunderstorms and heavy rain yesterday morning. Thankfully it was after we had arrived at the craft fair. Of course the weather meant less people in the morning but it did pick up in the afternoon. It's a new venture for this garden centre and will take a while to get going so I didn't do that well but hope for better next Sunday. One lady, who paints, said my cards were exquisite. Isn't that a beautiful word you don't hear much these days.

I thought I would share another layout with you today. I kept this very neat and symmetrical, unlike last week's grungy layout of Alice in New York. I echoed the lines of the bridge with the HOTP brown paper and the baker's twine. The bridge sticker was from a pack I bought in America. I choose the letters, which were from Poundland 2 or 3 years ago, as a complete contrast.

I thought I would share another make with you today. My Totally Gorjuss DT card is below. I love decorating these gift bags and decided to make another one ready for my stall tomorrow. Something Yellow

After the last two week's challenges at Totally Gorjuss, first sunshine, then holiday, I think Net is still hankering for some sun by giving us the challenge of Something Yellow, sunshine maybe! We are sponsored by Meljens and the DT were lucky enough to receive images to play with. I chose this cute goth girl and coloured her with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, edged in DI Wild Honey. The papers are Prima Youth Collection. I used a Viva Pearl pen on the dots on the image. The flowers were made with a Memory Box buckle die with Prima flowers and pearls and I added a couple of Sizzix die cut hearts and a Craftwork cards sentiment coloured with DI Wild Honey.
Challenges
Crafty Sentiments Bright colours

Have a great weekend everyone. Hope we get some sunshine. I'm selling at a craft fair again tomorrow. One of our local garden centres have just set up some shops and barrows to sell handmade items. I have booked in for a few so will see how they go.

Ride 'em Cowboy

This is my second post today. Please scroll down for my Winter Wonderland DT card.

Regular readers will know how much I love Sugar Nellie stamps and I have used this darling Elisabeth stamp from Sugar Nellies for my card. He has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I've gone for a distressed look with my TH tool and DI Wild Honey. The papers are some very old Forever Friends. Now hands up all those of you who bought eyelets and never use them. I rarely do but thought they were perfect to use with the faux leather strips I bought from The Works. The sentiment is from Lucy Cromwell and I added some Woodware punched stars, some of them crimped, and wound some more of the faux leather round one of them. I also added a horse charm from EBay.

Christmas Teddy

It's my turn to host the challenge at Winter Wonderland and I have chosen Christmas Teddy. Now you may have noticed I do love teddies and I had a hard job deciding which one to choose. In the end I chose this cute bear which I won from Di's Digis some time ago. He has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. As I printed him rather large and there is a lot of fur I though adding glitter to it would be too much. I'm not into too much glitter so I used a dotty method of hopefully giving some texture to the fur. The papers are Marianne Designs Merry Little Christmas and the flowers and leaves are Prima.

I hope you will come and play this week. Only 6 months to Christmas and Summer hasn't started yet! We are sponsored this week by Delicious Doodles. Teri has some fabulous new fairies in store which I have my eye on.

Here comes the rain again

Unfortunately this card shows our Summer so far. More rain than sun though we have had a couple of lovely days this week. I have been admiring this gorgeous Saturated canary image for a while and bought her last week. She has coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I also used a Sakura Rosestar pen on her boots and umbrella. The gorgeous papers are Papermania Henbury Lane. I used some raffia lace, which I haven't used for far too long. It looks almost red in this pic but is actually deep pink. The sentiment is from Inadinkadoo, isn't it so true.  The card is an 8 x8 so I used loads of dies for this card, Memory Box umbrella, dragonfly, butterflies and fence and 2 sizes of Nestie. I do love adding charms to cards and bought some more yesterday, some travel ones and some Cinderella ones. They are great value on Ebay and this seller has some really different charms I haven't seen anywhere else. I think the umbrella charm is from The Hobby House. I don;t seem to use Wild Orchid flowers as much as I used to but I really wanted to finish this card off with a lovely flower arrangement.

Alice in Wonderland, no make that New York

This is my second post for today. Please scroll down for today's card.

After tidying up the garden in the gorgeous sunshine I retired to my craft room and managed to get two layouts of New York made. One is very symmetrical and tidy and this one is grungy and distressed. The photo is of a bronze statue of Alice in Wonderland and friends in Central Park. I've sanded, distressed and used DI Vintage Photo on the edges and with a Crafty Sentiments stamp. I've added some seam binding, lace and staples to the HOTP papers. The clock die and alphabet are Tim Holtz, the sign and lamppost dies are Marianne Designs. The clock topper is from Crafty Individuals and the clock charm which I added to the sign is from a Cinderella set I bought from EBay.

Let's Rock

Only a few of my Sugar Nellie stamps are boys and this is one I have used a few times. He as been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. The backing paper is from the old faithful Dovecraft male pack and I used a Sizzix embossing folder, TH on the edge bracket die and Kraft core Cor'dinations which I sanded. I distressed all the edges and used DI Faded Jeans, very appropriate for a rock star. Some punched stars, some of them crimped and a guitar charm from EBay finish it off perfectly.

Patchwork Butterfly

Have you seen the sneak peeks from LOTV? They are just so adorable, as is this little cutie, coloured with Promarkers of course with a touch of Sakura purple glaze on the wings. This card was for my friend's Birthday yesterday so I can now post it. The papers are Lucy Cromwell and I used an MS border punch. The Kars wooden butterfly, paper and image have all been inked with DI Dusty Concord. I used some of my favourite lace, Memory Box die cut fuchsia and butterflies and some spotted buttons tied with raffia.

Now I don't know about you but I think commenting is an important part of being on a DT and I know that some challenges get so many entries they couldn't possibly comment on them all. Also sometimes circumstances prevent people from commenting at times but there are some people who are on several DTs yet they never leave any comments and there are some challenges where none of the DT ever comment. I try to comment on my allocated numbers and also to return as many comments from my blog as I possibly can. There are also many challenges where the DT always take the time to leave a comment. What do you think about DT commenting?

Rivership Romance

As soon as I saw the sketch at Friday sketch challenge I thought what a great sketch for a layout and here's the page I made. I sanded some Flower Power Core'dinations and used DCWV Nantucket papers. Some of these are glittery and I absolutely love them.

The photo shows my hubby pointing at a sign which says we cruised the Rivership Romance, Sanford, Florida. We like to visit some different places in Florida and a lunch cruise on St John's River was a lovely way to spend some time. In keeping with the romance theme I have tied a postcard charm which says I love you and a ship's wheel charm. The lettering which matches so well I picked up in The Range when they had a whole section of red, white and blue stuff.

I simply added some baker's twine with a button and a golf embellie and some square tiles I found in my stash.

Paradise

I am so glad to be part of the DT for Totally Gorjuss, such a lovely team and Net always sets us such lovely challenges and this week is no exception. Our theme is Holiday and I immediately saw that as the excuse I needed to spend time making a scrapbook layout with these two pics from last year's Florida holiday which included a trip to Key West. If you ever get the chance to go there, you really should, it is fabulous. I'm not one to laze on a beach but it was beautiful to walk on and the sunset celebrations are legendary. I have used a strip of some old K&Co paper which has been torn. The banners have been made from a free pad I got recently, Fancy Pants Beach Babe. It was perfect for this layout, even having some little turtles on one piece. The chipboard pieces are K&Co, the stickers were bought in America. We are sponsored this week by Heather's Hobbie Haven.

Candy Winner Redraw

Please scroll down for today's card.

As you will know I drew a candy winner yesterday, Debbi Glennie. Debbi contacted me today to ask me to redraw as she feels she has so much stash already. Isn't that incredibly generous of her.
So, here is the new winner

That's you, Kate, well done.

Please e-mail me so I can get the parcel posted to you.

Graduation Girl

Yesterday I posted the Saturated Canary Graduation boy and today it is the girl's turn. I wasn't too sure what the twiddly bit at the right hand side was meant to be but it looks like some escaped hair so that is what I coloured it. If you know better please let me know. She has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers.  I wanted to giver her a completely different look to the boy's card so used a red, gold and green colour palette. The papers are Bo Bunny Timepiece. I found the sentiment in my stash, from Twiddleys. I used an MS border punch, red flowers from a local shop, roses and cherry blossom from Wild Orchid, with MS punched leaves. Finished of with Woodware and Fiskars star punches and the crimper.

The papers are Prima Youth Collection and I have used DI Iced Spruce and my TH distressing tool. I remembered I had some star ribbon brads and used on with some vintage baker's twine. I wrote Congrats on a TH journal tag, added a paper clip, some punched and crimped stars and star buttons.

So here is the lucky winner
That's you, Debbie Glennie. E-mail me and I will get your package in the post to you.

Thanks to everyone who entered and welcome to my new followers. Look out for my next candy which will have a Christmas theme.

All packed and ready to go

I love this Simply Sassy girl from Sugar Nellie and have coloured her with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. The papers are some new Bo Bunny ones called Timepiece which I bought at The Glitter Pot last Friday. Isn't it lovely using a new paper pad. I have distressed all the edges and used DI Vintage Photo. I used two new Memory Box dies, the umbrella I bought at The Glitter Pot and the landscape from My Crafty Heart. The little postcard is a Pink Gem digi. I doodled round the backing paper and added some hearts to the umbrella. I also used a Viva pearl pen around the image. I'm still getting to grips with using it, of course the fact that some pearl dots are bigger than others is deliberate, lol!

This is my second post for today and this one uses a pre coloured image from Pink Gem. I've used Papermania Portobello Road papers and some card candi. I was lucky enough to win some image from The Paper Shelter and I was so pleased to find that you get the outline images and the ready coloured images. Now I love to colour with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers but I have a lot of craft fairs coming up and using some coloured images enables me to build up my stock more quickly. I won't be sharing them all with you but this card shows what you can achieve with a pre coloured image. The colouring is really good on these images too, lots of shading.

I have used DI Wild Honey around the edges and MME Blink of an Eye papers. Love the sunny colours of these papers. I coloured some scrim with the DI too and added some faux leather strips I found in The Works for 99p a pack, bargain. I used my MS zigzag punch along with Woodware and Fiskars star punches. The large stars have been through the crimper. Sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

This is my second post for today. Please scroll down for my Forever Friends guest designer card.

I just couldn't resist buying four more Saturated Canary digis last week. There are so many I love it was hard to choose what to buy but this one I chose called Gothica. She has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. The papers are Prima Youth Collection and they have all been distressed with a TH tool and Vintage Photo. I added some seam binding and Prima flowers with a few Memory Box die cut butterflies and some metal embellies from K&Co.

Guest Designer at Forever Friends

As you may have noticed by my recent posts not entering any challenges I have been away for a few days and scheduled my posts. We went to Brighton on Friday and came home last night.

My twins card was chosen as the Forever Friends favourite a couple of weeks ago and I was delighted to be asked to be asked to be a guest designer for today's anything goes challenge. Here's the cute badge I got which is my GDT page.

I inked up a stamp, which is so cute I wonder why it has been uninked for so long. Coloured with PMs and FMs and DI Dusty Concord around the edges. Papers are Basic Grey Wisteria. I added some scrim, ribbon, Memory Box die cut Chloe Stem, Willow dragonfly and butterflies and some Viva pearl pen drops. I would like to enter this into the animal antics challenge at Willow sketchie, flower power at Truly Scrumptious and the get well challenge at Sparkles

Little Claire selection

Here's a selection of cars I made using some of the lovely Little Claire die cuts I bought at Ally Pally. These are great when you need to make some cards quickly to build up stock. The edges have all been inked with DI Worn Lipstick. I have used a variety of complimentary papers, baker's twine, washi tape, buttons, card candi, bows and flowers.

Let in the sun

Saturday sees another challenge at Totally Gorjuss and this week our challenge is Sunshine. So many ways to interpret this so I had a look through my stamped images and found this one which I bought when it first came out. I usually stamp two of a new image, one to use straight away and one for later. Well it has been a lot later and I thought she is opening her window to let in the sun so I would make a summery flowery card. Coloured with PMs and FMs with glossy accents added to the window and water droplets. The paper is Kate Knight Spring Fling and I distressed the edges and used Di Iced Spruce on the edges and the doily. The dragonfly and prim poppy are Memory Box dies, ribbon was free with a mag and flowers buttons have been threaded with raffia. We are sponsored this week by Crafter's Companion so come along and play.

Baubles and Bells

It's time for another Christmas challenge at Winter Wonderland and this week we have a photo to inspire you.

As you can see I have taken my inspiration from the blue and silver colour scheme and also chose this Bildmalarna image with baubles. She ha been coloured with PMs and FMs and I have added some Viva pearl pen dots around the image. I have used DI Iced Spruce, The Snowman paper pad, MS border punch, baker's twine, bell charms which jingle beautifully, Woodware holly punched leaves, white roses and pearls. I hope you will join in this week as we have a lovely stamp on offer from Crimson Cloud. It's never too soon to make those Christmas cards you know.

Imagining he's Harry Potter

This is my second boy's card today and I have an update on Pollycraft. Paula is till going to be selling some of her fabulous digis once Pollycraft closes. You will be able to buy them at Little Miss Muffet. Isn't that wonderful news.

I do love making male cards just as much as girl's cards and when you have an image as adorable as this one, how hard can it be. I absolutely love this image, LOTV do boy's images so well, but I have only used him once, shame on me. As I sold that card I thought I would make another. The papers are Prima Yoth Collection and they and the the image have been inked with DI Wild Honey. I have used Promarkers and Flexmarkers and a Sakura Goldstar pen. The wording was left over from my Harry Potter scrapbook pages and is from Creative Imaginations. I added some punched and crimped Woodware stars.

If you are a fan of Pollycraft you will know that sadly it is closing. Before it does I want to join the linky party over at Tales from Pollycraft. Now you can post a card you have posted before and link that to the party but although I have posted 120 creations in 3 years using Pollycraft images, I know because I checked the labels on my blog, I couldn't resist using one of the images I bought recently to make a new card. Isn't he such a cutie. He has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I used Papermania Portobello Road and Wild Rose For Men papers, DI Faded Jeans, Tim Holtz clock die, Craftwork Cards sentiment, card candi and a border punch.

Yes, another purple card!

I know its another purple card but the challenge at The Sugar Bowl has an optional theme of shades of violet to go with the fab sketch so how could I ignore the option. The gorgeous girl is Tiffany from Simply Sassy and she has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers with the hearts coloured with a Sakura purple glaze pen. I decided to go the whole way and colour her hair purple too. The papers and sentiment are Papermania Lucy Cromwell. I used my Crealie swirls die, first time for ages, DI Dusty Concord, MS doily border punch, ribbon, pearls and Memory Box cherry blossom die with Core'dinations.

The Tailor of Gloucester

I do love sewing cards and I have used some Reddy Decoupage from Crafter's Companion for this card. I added the decoupage to a die cut tag cut from Core'dinations and added some faux stitching, seam binding, baker's twine, buttons and a cute little wire coathanger. The hinges were made with a Marianne sign die.

Holiday Fun

What awful weather we had here yesterday, rained nearly all day. Well done those poor people on the Jubilee boats who were getting soaked and  to the spectators who braved the rain. Not too sure what the weather is going to do today, not a great start.

Perfect weather for making Christmas cards. I have used one of the gorgeous Sugar Nellie fairies and papers from The Snowman paper pad. Lots of distressing with the TH tool and DI Milled Lavender. She has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and had lots of glitter added to the fur. I added some lace, a Pollycraft sentiment and made the poinsettia with Marianne dies and Core'dinations and added some pearls to finish.
