Around the world

Here I am back with my second post today. I was so pleased with the free gift with the latest Docrafts magazine. I stamped the globe and mounted it onto some hessian. The paper is from the new matching Chronology pack. The postcard stamp is from a new Tim Holtz set I bought on eBay and the bicylce die is a new Marianne one I bought on Facebook. I've added some baker's twine and Tim Holtz mini gears. Lots of DI Vintage Photo, distressing and scrunching on this card.

New dress

Here's a Christmas card with a difference. This was an ordered card and I really liked the way it turned out. I used the beautiful Papermania Home for Christmas papers. I bought some kraft dress froms from Craftwork cards at Ally Pally and this is the first time I have used one. I used the form as a template to cut the dress shape. The sentiment was printed from my PC and then diecut with a Spellbinders label. The flowers were made with Marianne poinsettia dies and pearls and the leaves made with a MB die.

Art Deco

I love art deco style and these images from Papermania are really beautiful. I find that decoupage is very popular at craft fairs and as I need to build up my stock made this 8 x 8 card using paper, border, sentiment  and decoupage from a pack I had for Christmas. I added some flowers and pearl sprays from Wild Orchid.

New baby

At Totally Gorjuss we have a nice easy challenge of new this week. I decided to go with new baby but you could choose a new home, job etc or you could use some new crafty stash. I love this sweet LOTV stamp which has been delicately coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. The paper is Tim Holtz and as it is a patchwork pattern decided to just use the one paper. The seam binding and lace are from Crafty Ribbons, pearls sprays and flowers from Wild Orchid.

No stamping again

I do love playing around with bits and pieces sometimes just for a change and recently ordered some ice skate diecuts from eBay. I really like the Marianne ice skates die but don't think I would use it enough to justify the expenditure so buying diecuts instead is a good idea I think. You are probably wondering what that has to do with this card, not an ice skate in sight! Well the lady kindly sent me a white diecut horse as well and I thought it would be perfect for my friends Birthday card.

We are going to a Christmas show at the Cromer pier theatre this afternoon so hope the weather is nice and we can go for a walk along the prom. Then back to Norwich for a pub meal this evening.

My friend is the one who come for a cardmaking lesson once a month and doesn't like cute so I put together a card which represents her working in an office and her love of horses and visiting county shows etc. The papers are MME Dilly Dally. I added some hessian, string, bulldog clip, the horse which I coloured with DIs, and a Tim Holtz stamped sentiment. I made the notepaper with a single hole punch and scissors.

Everything stops for tea (or coffee)

It's time for a midway reminder of our blue and green challenge at Crafty Ribbons and much as I love making Christmas cards it was a real change to make a Birthday card. I've used a lovely Sugar Nellie image and some oddments of paper. the fabulous ribbon is from the Crafty Ribbons shop of course. I thought it was so aporpriate with this image which has ben coloured with Promarkers. I've used a MB cherry blossom die with sanded kraft core Core'dinations and a Crealie die with kraft for the leaves. The sentiment is from a LOTV set. Here is this week's lovely summery prize.

Santa tag

This is one of the tags I made for one of hubby's pressies. I cut the tag from kraft and added some Crafty Ribbons ribbon, keep calm and carry on It's Christmas. The Sugar Nellie image has been coloured with Promarkers and I added glitter to the fur. I used a Marianne tree die, MB snowflake ornament die and washi tape. I didn't have a matching plain ornament so just cut around the die cut one.

My 5 Favourite Christmas cards of 2012

As some of you will know every year Debby sets us the almost impossible task of choosing our five 5 Christmas cards of the year. Now I make a lot of Christmas cards as I make all the ones we send and also a lot to sell. Anyway here are my 5 in no particular order.

My hubby's Christmas card. I wanted this stamp for a while and was delighted to win it on eBay. I really wanted to make several cards with it but resisted as I wanted to save it to use on his card. Expect to see it a lot next year. Love the distressing and vintage look too.

I chose this one as it is my favourite Whiff of Joy stamp and it is a real challenge to colour. Every year I get better though. It also feature my fave Christmas sentiments this year, the Grunge sentiments from LOTV, gorgeous ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and the bird and cage which I love.

Sugar Nellie stamps are some of my favourites and I loved using blue and brown this Christmas.

I chose this as it is a very different card for me and I plan to make some more of these next year.

I had to choose a LOTV card and as I love making boys cards decided to choose this one instead of the girly images which I was tempted to choose.

I just had to have a 6th as I couldn't leave out Krista's wonderful images. I could have chosen any of them but I really like my colouring on this one and the distressed Core'dinations, ribbon and bells.

Whew, that was a difficult choice and I could easily have chosen 10 but I limited myself to 5 6 and no purple in sight! Hope you will play along too as I would love to see what everyone else chooses.

Hope you are having a lovely Christmas Eve.

Mum's Christmas card

I just had to use this beautiful stamp again and this is my Mum's Christmas card. I've stamped it with DI Vintage photo and added loads of glitter. The gorgeous reindeer paper and the the brown are from the Deja Vu Fair Isle pack, the others are bits from the oddments pile. The lovely vintage ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons. I remembered I had the Memory Box snowflake corner so used that with glitter card from The Range. The sentiment is from a pack I bought at a show.

Thanks so much for all your support and lovely comments throughout the year. There is still a few days left to enter my candy.

Crafty Ribbons Advent Calendar Day 23

Up bright and early this morning. Going out for breakfast in Norwich then going to do battle in M&S food hall to get the last of the Christmas food.

Well I hope you have been playing along every day with us at the Crafty Ribbons Pure Inspiration blog for chances to win some fabulous prizes. Today we are sponsored by The Paper Shelter and they are giving away

The Dt were lucky enough to be given some images to play with and I chose to use this pre coloured image as the colouring is great. I added lots of glitter of course. I've used some old MME papers, gorgeous ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, K&Co embellishment, Woodware punched holly and some card candi. A nice easy card today.

Flying high

Our challenge at Totally Gorjuss this week is Easy does it and this card was a very easy one. I bought these Memory Box hot air balloon and cloud dies this week and had the idea for this card. Sometimes it makes a change to make a card just using die cuts. I already had the larger clouds and these small ones are quite hard to find so I am delighted with them especially as when I bought them from Oyster Stamps they had 20% off. I cut the balloons from kraft and then from papers. The backing paper is perfect with them. Papers are Prima Craftsman. That's it, nice and simple. Just the challenge you need at this busy time of the year. We are sponsored by Craftwork Cards.

Crafty Ribbons meets Winter Wonderland

This is a first for me combining something for 2 Design Teams. Firstly it is Day 21 of the Crafty Ribbons Advent Calendar where our sponsor is
and the DT were lucky enough to choose one of Krista's gorgeous images. You can play along with the Advent Calendar at the Crafty Ribbons Pure Inspiration blog. All you have to do is link your blog so get over there now, after leaving me a comment of course.

It's also Lynsey's turn as host at Winter Wonderland and out challenge this week is Wish Upon a Star. Now before you think you won;t be playing as you have finished all your Christmas make think again as for a few weeks we offer you the choice of making anything you like, Christmas or non Christmas as long as it fits the theme. So no excuse not to play along especially as you could win 4 digis from Delicious Doodles or Sassy Studios.

I've coloured my image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and used DI Weathered Wood around the edges.  The lush velvet ribbon and the ric rac are from Crafty Ribbons of course. More old Papermania papers and tag along with some Woodware punched glitter stars and a Memory Box die cut, party lanterns.

A tag for a change

I wanted to make a large tag for my Mum's Christmas pressy. I've used Echo Park Winter Wishes papers, Tim Holtz diecut I bought from eBay, Marianne tree with glitter card, MS punched snowflake, lace, ric rac from Crafty Ribbons and wooden decoration free with mag. I've also used Di Vintage Photo and Faded Jeans. I bought the die cuts as I wasn't sure how much use I would get out of the die but I have used several of them so this or the Memory Box one are on the wishlist.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch out with friends yesterday. Off to visit another friend this afternoon. Just one more Christmas card to make and hubby's pressies to wrap. Can't believe I make Christmas cards all year round but still have one to make for my Mum. Not had much time for crafting this week unfortunately. Hope you are all getting there with your preparations.

Well here we are at day 18 of the Advent Calendar and today's sponsor is
are you playing along every day? Just go to the Crafty Ribbons Pure Inspiration blog to enter. You can enter once every day. I made this bag for my friend Lisa's Christmas pressy using some old Papermania papers and a digi and ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. I love the black and white image and just coloured a few pieces with Promarkers. I used MS snowflake punches and glitter card and added a snowflake charm.

I have been asked where I bought these bags. I got them in America and they are the best ones I have found they are kraft inside and so much stronger than the ones I have found over here.

A very special stamp

You may be intrigued by my post title today. The reason this is such a special stamp is that my good friend Lynsey used it on the first Christmas card she ever gave me a few years ago. So that's one reason it is so special but the reason I remember it is that I had never seen stamped images using Promarkers before. This was some time before I began blogging. It started my love affair with stamping, Promarkers, Sugar Nellie and Elisabeth Bell stamps. Previously I had been making cards with peeloffs (urgh), stickers etc. Unfortunately it was an image somebody gave to her so she couldn't stamp it for me. The stamp hasn't been available for many years but I often look on eBay for SN stamp and when I saw this just had to bid for it and I won it for just £3.50, brand new as well.

I have used some lovely new papers I treated myself to, Echo Park Winter Wishes. The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, wooden embellie darkened with Di Vintage Photo and the tree is a Marianne die, another new purchase. This is the card I gave to Lynsey on Sunday.

Hubby's Christmas Card

We gave each other our cads yesterday so I can share this with you today. I am often blogging on the iPad and he is sitting next to me so I would have hated him to see it before he opened it. I wanted this Stampendous stamp for a while and when I saw it being used on Create and Craft one day and then on a few blogs wanted it even more. However it was either out of stock or available in America with ridiculous postage costs. I kept searching eBay and was so pleased when it turned up on there and even more pleased when I won the bid. I have been longing to use it but kept it to use on hubby's card. Expect to see it used more next year as I LOVE it.

I wanted to go for a distressed vintage look as a change from the cute images I normally use for his cards so I started by heat embossing the image with Wow Copper. Hopefully you can see that more clearly here.

The paper is Deja Views Fair Isle Christmas with Kaisercraft Dear Santa for the poinsettias which I made with Marianne dies. The grunge letter is LOTV. I inked and distressed everything in sight and added lashings of glitter for snow. Hubby loves it.

Three little Dancers

Time for a mid challenge reminder at Crafty Ribbons where the challenge is to make a tag or to use a tag on your card or project. This card was part of an order and as there are 3 daughters, all of whom dance, this LOTV image was perfect. They have been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers with Sakura goldstar pen on the stars and dots. More old Papermania papers, which seem never ending. I've teamed them witha tag from The Works, Dovecraft doily, Marianne poinsettia and leaf dies, snowflake brad, and of course gorgeous ric rac and ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. Here's the gorgeous prize

Miss U Janet

Christmas is a time to remember those we have loved and lost and some of you will know that I lost my oldest friend in April this year. Her family have placed a small Christmas tree on her grave and have invited friends to tie a tag on it for her. Janet loved snowmen particularly The Snowman so I immediately knew I had to use this image. There's a very interesting challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show to be inspired by Tim Holtz's tags. Of course I am nowhere near as clever as him with my techniques but nonetheless was determined to give it a go as soon as I saw his tags for December 2012. This was just the inspiration I needed. Here are Tim's wonderful tags.

I blended DI Broken China and faded Jean on the backgrounds, distressing the edges. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I've added some seam binding from Crafty Ribbons, a MS punched snowflake, Viva Decor pearl pen drops and wooden letters which I heat embossed with WOW metallic copper embossing powder. I only watch Create and Craft occasionally usually whilst ironing and it must have been fate that I was watching Debbi Moore yesterday as she showed how to use a Versamark pen with embossing powder. I didn't realise you could get a pen so off to Hobbycraft I went and it was just perfect to use with these tiny letters. It was a challenge to hold them still to heat emboss as they tried to fly around the desk. That would have amused Janet who has a great sense of fun. I love the effect of heat embossing and don't do it often enough. I might become addicted now.

I just need to find the right words for the back now, wrap it in plastic so it doesn't get damaged by the weather and go out and attach it to her tree.

Yes, it's my second Saturated Canary today but this time it's a bag. She has been coloured with Promarkers ad Flexmarkers.  I've used various papers, LOTV sentiment, Prima flowers and brads.

I've noticed when I've been leaving DT comments that some people are entering a ridiculous amount of challenges with one card. That just doesn't seem fair to me. It's obvious that there are a lot of Christmas challenges at this time of year but I think 6-8 challenges with one project is enough.

Please scroll down to see my first post today, a very different card for me, and please enter my candy above.

CAS and I love it!!!!!

I decided to have another try at a CAS card and I absolutely love this card. I now some of you would go all the way and wouldn't have added the snowflakes but they finished it off for me. Anything less was just a step too far. This cute image was a freebie digi from the very generous Krista. She is of course a Saturated Canray image and she took me ages to colour wth Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I used some Centura pearl card with a snowflake embossing folder and MS punched snowflakes.

Well here we are at day 9 of the Advent Calendar. You'll find some  members of the DT playing along  every day. I hope you are playing along at Crafty Ribbons Pure Inspiration blog. Our sponsor today is

Couldn't be easier. There's a different prize and sponsor every day so come back and play every day.

I've used a gorgeous image from the sponsor coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I've added some glossy accents to the bell and used more of those old Papermania papers from a couple of sets. The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons of course and I've used a MB banner die with some Core'dinations. Minimal embellishments for me I know but I printed the digi image big as I wanted Floppy and the ribbon to be the main focus of the card.

Forever Friends

Ooh I do struggle to make CAS cards. I don't find them simple at all. I have the idea in my head but when I make it I think it looks too plain. I've used an old Forever Friends stamp along with some old Forever Friends paper. The image has been coloured with Promarkers. I added a glitter frame by using double sided tape. The image has been fussy cut and stuck with glue gel to stand out. The sentiment is an LOTV stamp. I envisaged the card wit no embellishments but I didn't like it at all so I added 2 wooden shapes coloured with DI Wild Honey. Still too simple for my taste but I have another idea for a CAS card so watch this space.

No Stamping

It's Saturday and that means time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss and this week is is oh no snow! We are sponsored by Crafter's Companion.

Regular readers will know that my friend visits once a month for a morning cardmaking class. She isn't into colouring and wanted to make a card for her hubby and this is what I came up with. It's an 8 x 8 card and I had the idea of creating a snowy scene. I bought some deer diecuts on eBay and inked the edges using DI Vintage Photo and Forest Mos on the backing paper which is another old Papermania one. I tore some white card, ribbon is a lovely Vintage one from Crafty Ribbons, trees are Sizzix die cuts, snowflakes MS punches and Cuttlebug die, sentiment is from LOTV.

Not a Christmas card!

Yes, a quick break from the Christmas cards with this one. I'm rather short of girly Birthday cards to sell and  these LOTV diecuts are so useful when you need a quick make. I've teamed her with some Papermania capsule Boysenberry papers, Prima flowers, tiny pearls, baker's twine and a charm. I'd like to enter this into the Lili's little fairies challenge of pastel colours.

Apologies my card isn't very exciting today. However tomorrows will make up for it I promise.
