Doncaster goodies and my thoughts on the show and others

Back as promised with several photos of my lovely new stash I bought yesterday. The only disappointment was the lack of new paper pads as I particularly wanted some new Christmas papers but I still managed to buy lots of lovely stuff. I will share my thought son the show at the end of this post.

So my first pic is papers and embellishments.

Stocked up on some essentials.

Sp pleased to buy some of the new Christmas stamps from LOTV, a couple more of those darling little Gorjuss Girls and oh look, more snowmen, couldn't resist those.

Hobby House have some gorgeous toppers and I bought an art deco pack from Debbi Moore as these images are very popular with my customers when I had some from Docrafts. The cute little toppers are for quick Christmas tags.

A lovely border punch and a few new dies. I didn't buy many for myself as I bought several at Ally Pally in April.

So my thoughts on the show and other shows. Last year I found the NEC a bit disappointing, several stands missing and very expensive to go to. £11 to park the car is ridiculous. November isn't a nice time of the year for hubby to drive all the way home in the dark either.  I really like Ally Pally but in April I thought there were less stands than usual and very few samples on the stands. It's a lovely show to visit and parking and the cloakroom are free which is very useful for leaving your bags.

Last year was my first time at Doncaster and this year was even better I thought. It was lovely to see some of the smaller companies there and there were lots of gorgeous samples to look at. Some good bargains to be had. I loved the rummage boxes at Samuel Taylors and was very pleased with my bargain of the day the Go Kreate die set reduced from £18.99 to £5.69! Cheap to go in and lots of free parking. I would definitely go there again next year.

Whichever show we go to we stay the night before and Donaster is ideal for us as we had two nights near York, spending the days at the coast, and then drove down from there yesterday morning. I have noticed that Crafting Live are in Peterborough in November so that is one for the calendar as that is much much nearer to us than Birmingham.

Create and Craft were filming live and I was captured on TV with Lynsey and my hubby as we went in. Some of my blogging friends recognised me as they commented on Facebook, fame at last! One lady took a screenshot for me. Looks like hubby comes with free P&P, but he isn't for sale!

WOW! What a fabulous selection of new stash! Interesting to read your comments on various craft shows. The NEC is so expensive now, before you even get in, I'm not sure we'll be going again. After hearing what they charge people to have a stand for the four days, I'm not surprised so many are no longer there. I think I might need to persuade hubby that he'd like a weekend in Doncaster some time. 😉 xx

How many lovely new goodies! I'm in love with the blue paper pad and the new LOTV's Christmas stamps. Seems that you have had some lovely days, and the shot fom the Tv makes me smile: your hubby with the free P&P is so fun!

Fantastic goodies Marianne! I went on Saturday but have a completely different opinion about the show from a wheelchair user's point of view. This is the only show where the disabled don't get to go in first so by the time I got in, as it opened, the stalls were jam packed and I just couldn't get close to many. I also had women climbing over my legs to get in front of me! Although this has more stands I much prefer Doncaster Dome's show as it's more spacious and less fraught. I still came away we loads of goodies though :D. I did see that Lili of the Valley closed early too, maybe they ran out of stock? Debra x

The LOTV stamps look great and I'm not surprised to see some new snowmen coming home with you.
How wonderful to have that screen-shot as a memory from the day.

Looks like you had a good time. I haven't been to a show for a while now. Port sunlight has always been my favourite. Its a very small venue but full of stamping goodness xx

Hi Marianne, saw your photo on FB, as you say fame at last.
You certainly got some fab new stash, love the snowmen stamps especially.
We don't really have much by way of craft shows here in Scotland, the big one in Glasgow twice a year and I think that's it. I guess more and more people are buying on line, but although I have not been to many shows, I do like to watch the demos. Sounds as if you and Graham made the most of it by having a mini holiday, Kate x

You look positively giddy with excitment Marianne, and hubby looks very happy too. I'm glad you had a good day and your crafty purchases look super, lots of my favourites in there too. Thanks for sharing your views on the shows too, I've never been to Crafting Live. We usually go to Great British Craft Festival, Stoneleigh, and sometimes NEC, both these are near to my sister so we stay with her (she is a crafter too). I've been to Ally Pally a couple of times. Interested to see Crafting Live will be in Peterborough in November that's much closer for us so that's worth considering.
Creative Blessings, Tracy x
